I have given a few reviews, but never have I felt that I needed to give the lowest rating to a local business than I do now while writing this review. Please read on as you would want to take your business somewhere else rather than support this business. I honestly feel like giving zero rating to Sweet City Cafe in Bankstown but the lowest is 1 star for a horrible experience. There is no other better description to describe this business and the owners than a bunch of lying crooks. My wife placed an order for our child's birthday cake and told my wife at the time of order that they charge more than other cake shops because they make everything fresh on the day. Long story short, my wife called Sweet City cafe in Bankstown the day before the scheduled pick-up to reschedule it for the following week since our child fell sick. Their response was they've already made the cake, so we either lose our deposit or buy the cake - according to them, it doesn't matter if they've made it early and hanged the phone up on me a few times. So rude!!! Their so-called selling point that "They charge more because they make the cake fresh on the day" is just plain misleading and dishonest! Life is tough for everyone lately, but I don't know how these people sleep at night?!? It's a good thing my wife only paid a deposit and didn't pay the full amount at the time she placed her order. There are other cake shops and better local businesses to support. I would never ever recommend this local business or visit this place again. Keep my deposit and I write this review. I only support good businesses and mostly what everyone needs right now are good...

Walked in wasn't greeted or anything and made eye contact several times.
Then after 8 or 9 min was told to wait further to speak to someone else about a cake order.
Asked to sample cake but was told no and to purchase individual for $5 a piece (Strange when about to pay a considerable amount)
Bought 2 slices of different cakes. One was ok texture abit stale. Then the other slice was completely inedible and rock hard.
Had to go back to let them know and lady checked all the tray and chucked most out?!?
Looks like they don't check stock daily... It's a shame I hard great things about this local gem though appears standards have dropped.
Then was finally spoken to about made to order cake. Looked at price on the tray and was $140. Then was told not to look at that as it is old price?
Then advised the most basic of writing and no picture no nothing and quoted $170 for 14 inch square forest cake.... I walked out.
Avoid. Sergio's, cheesecake factory or even Costco that has pretty much the same...
Read moreLiterally the cakes are horrible. They are so old and can’t even eat it. If you go for Shisha and drinks that’s about all I will recommend. I went and bought two cakes and they were stale and hard and I went back and spoke to the guy and he got all defensive and slammed the cake box I gave to him that had the stale cakes in it. He said I can’t get a refund and I have to choose another two cakes instead so I did. Surprise surprise the two new cakes that I choose were old and hard as well. Literally could not even digest the cake.
Out right rude service and off cake. I feel so sick now. (I bought a mud cake with ganache on top and then another mud cake with cream in it and on top then swap it for two passionfruit...
