Taco Bell has opened in Green Square, Sydney. The chain first arrived to Aus in 2017 with stores already in NSW in Blacktown, Jesmond, Albion Park and Ballina. To everyone’s surprise I’ve never actually had Taco Bell until now! But the opening in Green Square, local to us, meant we could easily pay this place a visit. It was very busy so we waited out front, checked in and made our order via the touch screen. Food was ready pretty fast! The Venue is pretty hip with some cool art, bench seating, neon lights and even pick your own music from the playlist. It’s a fast food store, so it’s pretty cheap and sizes are pretty small. But the food was quite good! We tried the cheesy double decker taco which is the best of both taco worlds! It is a grilled flatbread (ie soft taco), covered with melted two-cheese blend and wrapped around a crunchy taco with your choice of protein, we opted for beef and topped with zesty ranch, crisp lettuce and cheese. We also ordered some soft burritos with chicken, sour cream, tomato, shredded lettuce and cheese. We got it as a meal, and the chips were fantastic, seasoned with their famous Mexican seasoning. A cheap and easy meal for takeaway

We dropped by this place because kids wanted Taco Bell. It was quite disappointing for all of us. Self ordered using the terminal and waited about 35 minutes for our order. The store was not crowded. There are 3 staff working in the kitchen who are looking like they are struggling to keep up. They cooked the chips first and left them in the bag and carried on to complete our other orders.by the time we got the full order. The chips were all soggy and other things were cold. We ordered 4 wrap thing, 4 tacos and some chips with churros. In that time, there was no staff outside to perform any general cleanings. The bins are overflowing with rubbish. U can’t put anymore into the bin. The tables are scrummy and pieces of food scraps scattered around. Quite a mess in there. U can see the counter looking disorganised with “powdery” spice powder and in that 30’mins, watching the staff in to e kitchen, nobody has cleaned or wiped the counter.

Came in a quiet time with no more than a few people, tried to find a table to dine in but every single table was dirty and the seats were full of crumbs. Even the counter to order and collect food was so obviously dirty it was really unpleasant. I get that this is a fast food joint but clearly the mess and dirt have been sitting around for awhile and there were plenty of staff chatting in the kitchen to spend at least 5 minutes to give the surfaces a quick wipe. The tacos, crunchwrap, and churros was decent and filling. The fries were well seasoned but soggy. The tortilla chips was soggy too and hard which gave my jaw a workout trying to chew it. Overall cleanliness of the place is questionable, could be just as bad in the kitchen. Would not eat here again.

I apologise for giving away presumably my first 5/5 on a fast food chain that I would normally rate 3 at best in any other occasions. (We all know their soggy fries so let’s calm down and tuck that drama back for another time.) Nonetheless, the welcoming atmosphere and dedication to the food prep completely blew my mind which had me put a 5-star next to its name.

When my name got called for pickup, the waitress held eye contact with a heartfelt smile the entire time as I walked to the counter. Plus, she was holding my bag up till she handed it to me carefully while thanking me for ordering and dropping by. I was totally unprepared for it and clam the F down! This is not America! You’re not supposed to smile at your customer (esp ethnic customers) and make them feel uber-welcomed if they didn’t tip you a grand. I have to say Taco Bell has a long way to fully assimilate to their Aussie peers and the fact that they’re doing this is shocking and unacceptable which dredges up the entire food and service industry standard that nobody has called for. Sly, cunning and a total blow below the belt for wanting me to come back again so badly knowing that I will probably replace all my dinner plans with Taco Bell from now on.

Almost forgot to mention, the Cali burrito was on point. Crisp, refreshingly scented lettuce shreds; fresh tomato cubes as if they were hand cut right before served; grated American cheddar cheese that smells and tastes like real cheese; and the tender, succulent pork chunks melt like Ferrero Rocher in my mouth were freaking un-real. I’ve had burritos doubled and tripled this price easily here in Sydney though, few actually reminisce the high fidelity of quality and flavour of this burrito I just had from, laughingly, Taco Bell. Additionally, thank the lord they didn’t burn/char my tortilla. Thank the...

I believe I went on the day of the opening night as I discovered a Taco Bell logo at Green Square when I was on my way to visit a cafe in the area and decided to quench my curiosity and joined the line. I waited in the line for around an 1 hour and was STARVING.

Upon finally getting in to order i found the main lady running the show was really fun, nice and courteous but the food was awful. The prices and pictures on the handed out menu looked great but by the time i got home and started opening the bag (i live like 15min drive away and wanted to record my experience trying the food). The tacos and chips were all soggy, and the ingredient quality was abysmal, the size and quantity advertised in the pictures was nothing like the real product. You could get something much better if you just paid more and went to a real taco/ mexican cuisine restaurant and you would get real food.

The whole product was really just of novelty because its new in Australia but otherwise eh. Even Maccas food quality is better :( sorry.

One thing I'm not sure about is if the nature of the food is why it went soggy immediately, but I do not think so. The tacos that were advertised to be crispy...
