We love when we find surprising new places. Not that this cafe is that new, itâs been open a year, but we had heard nothing about it until finding it on a stroll. Located in a quiet corner of Darlington, near one of favourite restaurants, Kindred and close to Abercrombie and Cleveland St. Terracotta Roasters is a moderately sized space to fit appropriately 30 diners. White and wood tones, with stylish art, the cafe is cool and comfortable. The cafe roasts their own beans and this coffee venture is headed by former Australian Barista Championship judge Cedric Kim. He is honestly one of the nicest staff weâve met, and his team carries this wonderful attitude through the store. Their outstanding customer service makes the visit a standout. Coffee wise, you name it, theyâve got it. Whether it is all-you-can-drink batch or cold brew, milk based or espresso. The coffee was flavourful, creamy and so enjoyable that we did have more than one each. My espresso was an Ethiopian single O, roasted only the day prior and produced a lovely long lasting taste. They are using beans from all around the world to keep it interesting! Theyâve got matcha, chai, affogattoâs, gelato milkshakes, teas, fresh juices and frappes too. Whilst itâs all about the coffee, they most certainly have also put together an amazing food menu too. We were equally impressed by the food! The humble bacon and egg roll looks like a work of art, just waiting for that yolk to be pierced. It came with a yuzu sesame coleslaw and served on a soft milk bun. And, for only $12 as a combo with the coffee, thatâs extraordinary value. Other offerings include their âIvy Bruschettaâ (soy and lindseed toast with multi-coloured cherry tomatoes, boconccini cheese, basil, honey and a hint of garlic) which you can get with a coffee for only $15. Or shall it be the Roaster's Eggs (free-range poached eggs and chorizo in a house-made tomato sauce with sourdough), a smoked pulled pork burger, it their morning burger ugh ago and a hash brown? For vegetarians, the mushroom dish is a winner. Slices of polenta topped with a mix of mushrooms; enoki, Swiss brown, button, king trumpet and topped with and a free-range poached egg and drizzled with truffle oil. In addition on their all day menu theyâve also got a roast pumpkin salad, garlic prawn pasta, chicken risotto and omelettes or it can be as simple and tasty as eggs on toast. Whilst the cafe isnât be haunted by all the instagrammers out there, this is part of the charm. Itâs busy, but not crazy, frequented by those in the know. It is certainly a quality roaster and cafe and undoubtedly...
Read moreWhere do I begin? The vibe of the whole place is extremely welcoming and cosy. My friend and I happened to go on a rainy day, so maybe thatâs what set the mood even more. The staff are extremely courteous and kind. They really made us feel as if it wasnât our first time visiting; like we had been there a handful of times before (despite that not being the case).
Located in a tucked-away alley with beautiful residential buildings surrounding it, the place really has a unique, yet comfortable feeling to it. As if the exterior wasnât aesthetically pleasing enough, the interior gives you plenty to look at. Thereâs cool posters, shelves, and knick-knacks to keep you entertained and spark conversation while waiting for your drinks and/or food. Speaking of which, the matcha latte was milky yet flavourful (just how I like it), and the affogato-type drink was so delicious, that even as a non-coffee drinker, I was quite the fan (often stealing sips from my mateâs glass). We ordered the big breakfast and the mushrooms on toast, a couple of staple brunch dishes. The way the team at Terra Cotta Roasters prepared the meals worked so well, and all components on the plate balanced each other nicely. The portions and pricing werenât half bad either! Will definitely...
Read more5 mins walk from Redfern station in quiet neighbourhood. The cafe offers seat indoor and sheltered outdoor. Normally ordering by QR code, but mine wasnât working today, so the waiter kindly came to take my order.
Ordered a Wild Mushroom and oat milk latte without sugar. The wild mushroom had 3 slices of soy linseed sourdough, a poached egg and a mountain of mushrooms. The mushrooms were rich of different flavours, truffle, soy sauce, oyster sauce?⊠they matched well with the sourdough. The sourdough was soft inside and slightly crispy outside, giving a wide variety of texture with mushrooms; the seeds in bread further added texture to it. The poached egg was well made.
The oat milk latte smelled good and was smooth to drink, though couldnât taste the base of coffee well.
Total $30.5. Very nice and...
