Tew Thai Always Authentic — Restaurant in Sydney

I went back last month ( first time since last review 5 years ago) and it was really good, just like the old days and they asked for my name over the phone, also good!! I’m changing my rating of 2 to 4. Thank heavens you are doing a good job again Tew Thai!!!! I’ll be coming again, yay!! Previous review 5 years ago below:- I have been putting off writing this review for some time. I have been going here for over 10 years and have been a loyal, albeit infrequent customer. I always said my name on the phone and always ordered the same thing and always picked up. Over the past few years things have been changing. Maybe they got a new chef a few years ago..maybe they are cutting corners..I don't know. It used to be excellent. I mean absolutely excellent. Then they started using a different tofu in their pad thai that is now like cardboard, then the beef got thinner and thinner and dryer in the pad thai, now they are serving up the tom yum soup with only 2 prawns and have hicked the prices. So I stopped going. I wanted to give them another go..so I went back about a month ago..the lady said I haven't seen you here in a while... I then got served the 2 prawns again and the pad thai was the same dry beef as before. This is why. The sauces are still lovely as is the broth. Look after your customers Tew Thai. Pinching pennies with the public who know you ends up...

Friendly service, and good food. Really enjoyed the ambience as well. Came for dinner and got to watch the sunset 😄 Had the crab net spring rolls and they were delish. The pad see ew was our favourite of the 3 main dishes we ordered. The pad Thai was on the drier side with less tang that I would've liked, which would've been ok but didn't get a lemon wedge to balance it out. The pineapple fried rice was good but not as exciting in flavour as I had hoped. Overall, will come back to try other things on the menu. We'll priced for the portions and quality.

Tonight we tasted the new Tew Thai - and it was the perfect hump day meal! The team were awesome, service was great and the food was packed with flavour.

Dinner for five came at under $25 each and included a couple entrees and a generous spread of mains….. enough food to call for the take home pack!

Don’t sleep on this local institution - there’s great views, especially on a night like this watching the sunset; it’s BYO and the staff are fast and friendly.

It’s good to see Tew Thai back after more than two decades...
