Outstanding Coffee, Creative Menu, and Warm Service Every Time

I visited The Baristas’ Shed (20/9 Hollinsworth Rd, Marsden Park) yesterday and left very impressed. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt the welcoming and positive vibe that this café is clearly known for. The staff are genuinely warm and friendly, making it a place where you feel like more than just a customer.

A special thank you goes to Heema, the lovely barista who made my cappuccino. She greeted me with a smile and prepared one of the smoothest, most perfectly balanced cappuccinos I’ve had in a long time. Rich, full-bodied coffee with just the right texture of foam—it was the kind of cup that makes you stop and appreciate how much care went into it. That personal touch made my visit stand out.

The menu deserves its own spotlight. What I really liked is how it goes beyond the basics—yes, they do the café classics, but each dish is given a fresh, modern twist. From avo on toast loaded with green peas, golden beets, wakame seaweed, and chia lemon, to the hearty breaky bruschetta layered with mushroom ragout, kale, Persian feta, and a perfectly poached egg, it’s clear that thought and creativity go into every plate. And for anyone with a sweet tooth, the mango & pineapple toast with berries, lemon balm, coconut sorbet, and macadamia soil is both refreshing and indulgent. It’s the kind of menu where you know you’ll want to come back just to try something new each time.

The atmosphere is equally appealing. Indoors, there’s a warm and cozy feel with background music and a lively buzz, while the outdoor seating makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy the fresh air. It feels versatile—you could comfortably bring a laptop and do some work, meet friends for a casual brunch, or simply sit quietly with a good coffee.

Service is efficient without ever feeling rushed. Drinks and meals come out quickly, but the staff still take the time to engage and make you feel looked after. That balance of speed and genuine hospitality is something I really value in a café.

I’ve uploaded some photos from my visit, so be sure to check them out if you’re curious about the presentation—it’s as inviting on the plate as it is on the menu.

All in all, The Baristas’ Shed has everything I look for in a café: fantastic coffee, a fresh and inventive menu, friendly and attentive staff, and a welcoming environment that makes you want to return. I’ll definitely be back, and next time I’ll be trying more of those creative dishes alongside another cappuccino from Heema—highly...

The food here was really nice, as was the coffee which arrived very quickly after ordering. I had a big breakfast, my dad the eggs concarne and mum the vegan salad. Tasted great, looked even better.

The only sore point to our visit was when we arrived we weren't greeted. The menus weren't visible and we had to ask for them We were ready to order and were rather obviously looking around for someone to order from for maybe 5 minutes?, all of the staff were behind the counter chatting or staring into space. In the end I went to the counter and asked to place the order.

Also, when we were first seated I asked for some table water. Was informed that there is a water station with cups. I pointed out that it was empty. The waiter said he'd fill it up right away before disappearing behind the counter to chat. The person who finally took our order was asked and half filled the water, before giving up, leaving empty bottles and the lid off the tank.

The food, great. The vibe, great. The coffee, brilliant. Time from ordering to receiving, reasonable. The front of house service? Considering the amount of idle staff.....

Atrocious customer service. If you work within the complex, save yourself the hassle and purchase your food from elsewhere. I ordered my food at approximately 11am on a Sunday morning, I returned shortly thereafter to find out that it was given to another customer. The gentlemen who served me apologised and assured me that my order would be remade afresh. I understandably nodded my head and went back to work. After waiting for about 15mins, I had returned once again, only to find out that my food was yet again given to another customer. You would think it to be common sense, for those who work in the kitchen to put your food aside, and wait for your return to pick it up. However, for those who work at the Barista Shed, this must be the greatest of inconveniences. So, my advice for those of you who work within the centre and are expectedly busy with customers- BUY YOUR FOOD ELSEWHERE. The individuals who work at the Barista Shed, care very little for customer satisfaction. To the gentlemen who served me, kudos to you sir- you were the only individual there who attempted to remedy the situation....

I ordered the Hot Honey Sesame Chicken Burger with fries, and the current weekly dpecial of Dubai Chocolate Pancakes. Right, so the "Hot Honey Sesame Chicken Burger," yeah? Good gear. Flavour's spot on, bit of sweet, bit of zing, that sesame's a nice touch. And mate, you get a decent whack for your buck, won't leave ya hungry. Then you got these "Triplet of Dubai Chocolate Pancakes." Not just any old brekky, these. Rich as, proper choc hit. Three of 'em too, so you're not left wanting. Complemented nicely with a dressing of strawberries and bananas all over. Total was about ~35 all up, which is good value considering most desserts in Sydney nowadays that cost around $15 tend to give you a small flat square brownie with nothing else on top. Would recommend!
