A lesson in how I manager can ruin your business. ..
My friend and I have been going to the Flynn for 5 years (A few of them even longer than that) purely for convenience being close to work. In all honesty the service has not been good for years. Once it took 40 minutes for them to even give us table water and take an order for drinks. We have had to complain a few times about slow and poor service over the years but yesterday the managers response was the worst customer experience ever. I arrived late and ordered after the lunchtime rush separate to my friends. A simple pizza took almost 1hour to arrive. When we complained the manager simply said they were busy so too bad so sad. If you think that's bad it gets worse. Much worse.... When pressed on the fact the lunch rush was over by the time I ordered the truth was finally revealed. The chefs it seems failed to see the docket and had I not complained my food would likely have never arrived. Rather than apologising for the delay and for lying to us.
And this is the part where it turns truly bad...
The manager rudely accused our table of simply wanting free drinks. Simply because we complained the last time within 6 months it took 40mins for drinks to arrive. Resentment much? Is it the customers fault your service is repeatedly poor?
Obviously this was not received well at all. We advised the manager that this was never our intention and explained in no short detail how rude that statement was.
At the end of the day; when a customer makes a complaint all we want is for you to listen, understand our concerns, apologies and assure us the matter will not happen again. The manager here instead of descalating the situation inflamed it. Truly the worst customer service experience of our lives. Several times we had to ask the staff to check on our food but they never came back to give us an update. We originally made a reservation here for a work lunch because we had previously been here before and had a good experience. Unfortunately this time we ended up waiting over an hour before our meals arrived at the table.
I ordered a medium scotch fillet steak while my colleagues ordered the daily specials, chicken schnitzel and minute steak sandwich.
Minute steak sandwich... which took one hour to cook apparently. Raw chicken came out with the chicken schnitzel and my scotch fillet was perfectly cooked but came out cold.
My colleague sent back the chicken schnitzel and we brought our concerns to the managers attention. She did apologise and offer us a small discount on the final bill but given the way it was handled, it is clear that the quality of the establishment had gone down hill since were there on previous occasions.
