I know The Ox likes to dodge criticism and get defensive when they receive bad reviews, but instead of making excuses, they should take a hard look at how their management is running things. The way we were treated wasn’t just poor—it was downright appalling. This isn’t about protecting your fragile reputation online; it’s about owning up to the fact that your management team is driving people away. If you keep treating guests this way, you won’t have anyone left to defend yourself to. I recently hosted an event at The Ox Darlinghurst, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. The management team was incredibly rude and unprofessional throughout the entire night. They went as far as kicking out guests who were completely sober, and by the end of the night, it felt like half of the party had been forced to leave. To their credit, the security guards were doing their jobs, but the manager? Absolutely over the top and impossible to work with. We were also misled about the venue's capacity. We would have never chosen this venue for our event if we had known how cramped the space was. There is no way this place can comfortably fit 80 people, despite what they may claim. Overall, a horrible experience that I would not recommend to anyone looking to host an event. The mismanagement and lack of transparency are just not worth it.

Firstly, let me just say Alex was fantastic. From the moment he first introduced himself to literally the end of the night he attended to every request. He even helped set up the slideshow which was not working from my laptop. Overall, it was a great night with many thanks to the staff on duty.

One of the worst businesses I’ve ever had to deal with. Booked my event 3 months in advance, only for Andrea to email me 2 weeks before our event asking for me to change my date to the day before. I explained I had friends flying in from across the country and a DJ booked for this specific date (which he had confirmed) and could not move my event. He then proceeded to ignore every phone call, text and email for a week before finally responding a week later saying he had double booked my date by mistake and telling me I need to change my date. He was completely unprofessional and rude in his responses and took no accountability for his managers actions (who he blamed for this error). It was only on the Thursday (9 days away from my event) he finally told me he was cancelling my booking, even though we had paid in full.

Note to Andrea, telling me to change my date of my party is NOT an adequate response to your mistake. Nor is telling me your “over this”, that its “not your fault” and that you would “rather just close the doors and give you both your money back and close the entire venue”. Completely unprofessional.

Thanks to him we had no option but to spend way more money trying to find another venue so close to our date. He refused to take any accountability for his and his staffs mistake and couldn’t even give us the courtesy of a phone call. Please don’t book here, even if they confirm your date and take payment they have no care in cancelling your booking nor will offer any viable option.

Please save yourself the time and disappointment and book a venue that actually cares about their clients, not this circus...

I held my 21st birthday at The Ox and it was an incredibly successful event. Not only did I manage to hire out the venue for a very affordable price, the club also offered a great price for unlimited drinks and a DJ that played my personal playlist. The venue is great for a party of about 100 guests, with a large dance floor but also areas for guests to sit. I was able to set up my own decorations, have a slide show playing throughout the night, and use the AV system for free for speeches. My guests were extremely happy with the drink flow and the food was absolutely delicious - with no shortage on either. The security was helpful in keeping out strangers who tried to enter the party without an invite and the bar staff were very cheerful. Thanks to the manager Andrea, who had my best interests at heart from the second I emailed him about my event, I was able to celebrate a night to remember.

Would highly recommend this venue to anyone wanting to hold an event for their guests to have...
