The Proper Pasty Company — Restaurant in Sydney

After dodging a “we’re closed” sign that seemed to have taken the day off, I finally made it to Proper Pasty and was greeted by the friendliest of duos. I ordered 2 Scotch Eggs, 2 Black Pudding Scotch Eggs, 1 Frozen Sausage Roll, and 1 Jumbo Pasty—a veritable smorgasbord of British delights.

Before I left, the lovely couple offered some much-needed reheating advice, having quickly deduced that my kitchen skills are more ham-fisted than heroic. My partner, a self-proclaimed Scotch egg aficionado, was absolutely blown away by the pork’s quality, the crunchiness of the coating, and the egg cooked to perfection. Sure, saying “they’re even better than M&S” might sound like mild praise to some, but in our culinary universe, that’s practically a standing ovation.

And the Jumbo Cornish Pasty? It whisked her away on a nostalgic trip right back to Mousehole in Cornwall—talk about a tasty...

Here is my response following the owners response to my 4 star only rating, who has assumed I haven't purchased from the store... I have tasted the Cornish pasty and pies from this shop, not the sausage roll yet. A 4 star review isn't that bad at all... The only reason why I gave you 4 stars is because the Cornish pasty and pies aren't as good as others I've had in my time. Personally, I feel the flavours were lacking a bit. I was actually going to return to try the sausage roll as these have been sold out the 2 times I've gone to purchase. However, since seeing the owners response, my motivation for doing so now is non-existent. I don't appreciate having someone saying I'm submitting false reviews as that IS NOT the case. The fact is, after the owners response, the star rating should actually be a lot less...

I was expecting very nice pasties and sausage rolls from P.P.C. This is not what I got. The pasties are spectacular and I have just placed my second order. A great variety of styles and sizes are available and you will not be disappointed. Pasties are not always available around the Sydney area and the commercial ones are a bit ordinary. The owner is great to speak to and is very passionate regarding his products. This my new pasty and pastry shop. Delivery from Neutral Bay to Cronulla not a problem. I had the Jumbo Pasty last night and am looking forward to the meat packed sausage rolls tonight. I am looking forward to the Rogan Josh pasty on my next order. If only I could find an establishment somewhere that ships scallop/seafood pies....
