Visiting Tilda yesterday. It was a reservation with 46% off promotion for specific time dining. The overall experience was okay. The hightlights: Service - Most of (not all) floor staffs were warm and welcoming. MB7+ Wagyu ribeye on the bone - good quality meat for $25 per 100g. The downlights: Mostly most of the food we ordered. In general nothing are really special. With the high price tag, I expected the food to be implacable and memorable and wanting me to go back because crave of the flavour or something you can't find anywhere else. What we ordered: - Bread & Butter Service AP saltbush focaccia, Pepe Saya butter, macadamia, jersey milk cheese, wildflower honey, wattleseed ($39). Yes it is $39. This bread should be 'signature' of Tilda. Hmmm... not much too comment. - Wagyu beef tartare, black garlic, creme fraiche, potato scallops ($32). We had somewhere better so once again not sure whether this is something I would order next visit (if they offered 95% promotion). - Crab toast, seaweed butter, avocado, caviar ($18pp) I was looking forward to this dish when I saw on the menu. Unfortunately I think I had too much expectation while, in my opinion, it didn't deliver to my expectation. The toast was quite hard and so chewy at the same time. - Mafaldine, lobster, shellfish butter, basil ($120/$220). We ordered half lobster ($120). I might mistakenly interpreted wrongly. I thought half as half lobster but it seems half as the pasta size as well. So the pasta serve pretty small. The flavour was pretty good but the lobster, it felt slightly overcooked. It was more to chewy/rubbery texture. - Side dishes: BBQ leeks, anchovy, caper vinaigrette, roasted macadamia ($17). It was meh. Potato gratin, mozzarella, breadcrumbs ($18). It was meeeehhhhhhhhh. Yeah it was not great. - MB7+ Wagyu ribeye on the bone - good quality meat for $25 per 100 gram ($200). This is the most decent dish. The meat quality was really great! The cook of meat perfectly medium rare. So this is the superstar. And they nclude 7% gratuity. They advise when they handed the bill. And we were happily not to remove it. So, with the price tag (without 46% off promotion), personally, I dont think it is worth of experience. And I am very sure I will not return with the same promotion (46%). But thank you for the service last night team Tilda!

It has been a while since I have been to a restaurant that I truly felt wowed by the food and service! Tilda has just opened in the Sofitel hotel and it had a beautiful fit out and design. Despite being a newer restaurant all the staff seemed quite experienced and well trained! My only complaint is that the restaurant is quite small and limited and space, you’re quite close to the other tables. Just a personal preference for me to have the table a little more spread out. Firstly the bread and butter service was really good! The butter was really whipped and light, however between two people it was quite a lot. I recommend to get this with min 4 people as it fills you quite up!! The scallops were really nice too with the tamarind and coconut, it gave a bit more of an Asian flavour but super yum!! The beef tartare with potato was nice with the crème fraiche as well. The oysters were nice I liked the mignonette and Tabasco provided too! We got the scotch fillet with chimichurri and it was a really great pairing! The meat was cooked perfect and super delicious, haven’t been this impressed by a simple steak in a while! The hassbleback potatoes were also really good with the seaweed butter and were crunchy with a nice flavour! I got the strawberry vodka gimlet drink which I didn’t really like all too much though but the good food made up for it! I had exceptionally great service by an Asian man with glasses! I didn’t get to catch his name but he really took care of us always checking up on us if we needed anything and always serving us with a smile.

Before you head into the hotel or restaurant @tildadining.sydney for dinner, be sure to stop by @bartilda.sydney for a drink. They’ve got heaps of whiskies and cocktails, and the two we had were brilliant. Table service and some excellent bar snacks too inside the @sofitelsydney Tilda Dining is an amazing new restaurant inside the newly refurbished Sofitel Wentworth. Classified as relaxed dining, which it is, for the staff are welcoming, casual and it’s so not pretentious. But at the same time it is also very sophisticated, both in the aesthetic and food on offer. You may have heard of this as they’re all the news in socials for their bread and butter service! Whilst it costs $39, it does serve 2-4 people (more on the serves 4 side, the Butlers silver plate comes filled with AP saltbush focaccia, Pepe Saya butter, macadamia, seared jersey milk cheese, wildflower honey, wattleseed. You might find that you will come back just for this! This menu is outstanding and there were so so many things on the menu we’d like. It has a very approachable menu with a focus on meats and seafood but also plenty of veggies, so we’re sure basically any diners would be happy. We opted for the mixed grill which comes with MB7+ Wagyu Striploin, half-shell scallops, lobster, grilled yellow beans, chopped salad, condiments and hassleback potatoes. The lobster was incredible! This meal took the stress of ordering away and was great to share between two people. We definately must return for more, as well as dessert, which we couldn’t fit in this time.
