LULU — Restaurant in Sydney

My boyfriend booked this as a surprise birthday dinner for me and wow how charming is this place!

The ambience and vibe is so chic, the food is simply delicious, super fresh and tasty, and wait staff are super lovely.

Every single dish rocked! Oysters with Vietnamese dressing, Wagyu beef with Sancho pepper sauce, Alaskan roll, Kingfish ceviche crackers, Osaka prawn, and every dish was divine. Pan Asian means Asian food with a fantastic modern twist and great flavours and textures. Someone has really put a lot of love into creating fun twists on classic Asian favourite dishes and you’ll love these dishes.

I don’t usually eat dessert, and the dessert was a special recipe from a guest chef that tasted like a delicious, deconstructed ice cream snickers bar which was amazing! Had ‘Roll the dice’ mocktails, tell the bartender what flavours you like, and they surprise you with what drink you’ll get, we did a few of these and these were also yummy.

Parking was super easy with heaps of spots at a nearby parking lot. Every dish was divine! Lovely for sharing meals and a cute romantic date or night out with friends. Had such a great night out. Would happily return and happily...

Was hyped to try Lulu knowing it’s the same owner of Raw Bar down at Bondi Beach which we frequent regularly.

So perhaps we went it with to lofty expectations but on the whole I left having expecting more both from the food and service.

Hokkaido Toast was the star but otherwise seared nigri selection was served with mushy rice and bland dressing. Fuji salmon rolls had some much mayonnaise over powered everything it’s in way and in general dishes were just so so.

Service was frustrating as we had multiple people looking after us but zero communication between them. So no sooner and one tried to top up your wine glass another would try and do similar. While they clearly only wanted to serve your food and no intention of offering much in the way of personalised service or friendly banter.

Great assortment of dishes and with clearly marked symbols for those with dietary restrictions. The service at the table was perfect. But I give them 4 stars as a good friend reserved this place as a surprise and went out of her way to request a certain table for the 3 of us. When we approached, the staff denied getting this information which did leave her very bothered given she emailed and called days in advance with someone who acknowledged the ask. Ultimately, we were given the option to sit at the bar (which was not so comfortable as it was right at the door) or outside (it has just finished pouring).
