Una's in Darlinghurst has been dishing out continental cuisine for over five decades. It is a wonderful venue for people watching especially if you are lucky to get an outdoor table or a window table. The owners and wait staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We chose the unhealthiest dishes on the menu. Entrees and Mains all fried “Heart attacks on our plates” Our decision was based on the fact that St Vincent's Hospital Cardiology Centre was only a block away Starters Deep fried Camembert with cranberry sauce. Was good, just begged for a little more pizazz. Salt and Pepper Squid, also fried, but was light, tasty and tender. Nice Crumbed mushrooms, also fried – very nice. These stole the show. The sauce it came with was not required. Mains We all had schnitzels Serving sizes over the top ENORMOUS. The diner with a huge appetite, chose the Veal Schnitzel (No Sauce, just lemon wedges) – It must have been good. It vanished faster than a magic trick. The healthy diner chose the Pork Schnitzel with mushroom sauce. He found the serving size over the top (which it was) He also wished he had just had it plain- no sauce. He could only consume approx. 30% of the serving. He gave the remains to the diner with a huge appetite to take home. The semi healthy diner with a good appetite chose the Chicken Schnitzel with a spicy tomato “gypsy” sauce, a very pleasant belly filling dish, but could only consume 60% of serving. The diner with a huge appetite was thrilled, as he now had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Entrees serving sizes are generous. Schnitzel serving sizes are crazy... HUGE The afternoon was positively memorable based on the setting, the staff and the food. BYO, wine accepted with a small corkage charge. They are also fully licensed Will be eating salad for next 7 days B.T.W. If you are on a diet, Uno’s do cater for healthier patrons with a few salads, fish, steak on offer. Note: Outdoor tables can get a bit hot in Summer, so bring your sunscreen.

Lots of food - large portions. Everything is sharable. Larger than US servings. Great beers. Fun people and atmosphere. Grabbed an outside table late night winter. Everyone is cold but us from Alaska lol. Lively street full of young, robust, diverse people. Definitely would come back. Gave only 3 stars because everything is deep fried. Needs Healthy variety - says me hardly ever except this once lol.

Review by @Feedpunchers on Instagram 4.2/5* The Feed Punchers visited a homely and authentic, Austrian-German-Hungarian styled restaurant, which has been running since 1970- Una’s. Known for their large schnitzels, we were indecisive as to what type of schnitzel to order, until, the waiter told the lads, the chicken Jager-schnitzel is the best. -The jager schnitzel, came topped with a creamy mushroom sauce, which was unlike any creamy mushroom sauce we’ve experienced. It was thick, rich, creamy, salty, smooth, warm, Refreshing yet slightly spiced. A very impressive, well practiced sauce. The schnitzel itself was perfectly golden crusted and huge in portion. It had very little seasoning, but we figured this was what the sauce was for. The schnitzel had delicious shredded potato’s underneath it, called ‘Rösti’. They tasted creamy, salty and hints of onion. We found them to be the perfect side to the schnitzel. Also, on the side we were given paprika loaded cabbage and mustard, which both paired perfectly with the schnitzel. -The Baked Camembert was extremely creamy inside, melting in the mouth with an instant warmth. The batter was perfectly golden crispy. The cranberry sauce was a nice addition of sweetness and fruitiness. -The Swiss Weisswurst sausage was incredibly unique and soft on the palate. It is a traditional Bavarian sausage made from minced veal and pork. It carried a subtle flavour of parsley, onion and lemon. It was sided with caramelised onions, which were the perfect sweet accompaniment. Also, sided with sauerkraut which was mixed in with bacon. This added great pickled, fatty and salty flavours. -Overall, the Feed Punchers enjoyed this authentic feed provided by a beloved long-standing restaurant. Thanks Una’s!

Would prison food be better????

Never have I ever been so disappointed, disgusted, offended and insulted in my life going to a restaurant.

Let's start with the service, absolutely pathetic, low on staff, rude and totally disinterested in their jobs and obviously their customers. You could sit there with your hand up asking for service, asking for anything and be completely, utterly and totally ignored for that matter.

Then you ask the staff for a recommendation on food, they give you their recommendation, which is absolutely horrible. The food, and sauce comes out lukewarm, and the sauce is pasty and cold. Not to mention they suggest you to try different dishes but don't tell you there's extra hidden costs. And when you confront them on these hidden costs they pretend like nothing's ever happened

The food took ages to come out that's not such a big issue, but in any case it wasn't preferable . When you receive your food and you're starving, and you're presented with food that is not even quality enough to serve people in a third world country then you know you've made a mistake.

The prices are a rip off, the food is not fresh. We've heard so much about this place, we were so excited to go there, and in every single way possible it was a complete flop on the other side. We were so so so heavily disappointed.

But then wait there's more. The way to suggest to us some food we ordered, and then at the end when given our bill, we were charged for extras for the waiters suggestions that were supposed to come with the food. When I asked the waiter what was this for, he could not answer why. I said to him; are you going to refund us? He made an abundance of excuses and then panicked, and then walked around in circles and just simply walked off.

I can't tell you how excited we were to go to this place, but at the same time after eating our food I'm not sure even if you could feed this to an animal, by the end of the night we couldn't wait to get out of the joint. My stomach is turning right now in the absolutely pathetic service, disgusting food, and downright disgraceful overall experience that we had at this so-called amazing restaurant to eat...
