I went to the restaurant on weekend to try beef pho. As I'm a big fan of pho, the name Urpho "dragged" me in. And I was really disappointed. The wide variety of menu drove me crazy. Maybe that was the reason why pho was not their focus. The soup was tasteless. The noodle and beef balls were low quality. I used to run a business in food industry, so I'm pretty sure they got the cheap ingredients from mass production suppliers. The atmosphere was nice and different from other Vietnamese restaurants (well, I think the base is beautiful thanks to the Korean Kozen). However, my night was ruined by the voice of the young man. I think he's the owner. It was so loud and so rude. I can hear he explained to other customers that the kitchen was open but to me, it was a bad excuse. If he's unable to change the way of setting up the kitchen, he has to change the way he manage staffs. I don't think yelling can help. I felt that I paid money for someone to torture my ears. Long story short, I don't have the habit of giving review but I have to do in this situation. i hope that the owner/manager will make a change. We wish your restaurant to stay and then we can enjoy Vietnamese food in the long run. what a pity if you cannot make it. Such a nice location with no good Viet restaurant...
Read moreI am so disappointed. I have been getting UR PHO (dine in and takeaway) for years. It was the best when located opposite Monroe Park. Over the last year it has unfortunately gone down hill. My partner and I would usually get the Wagyu Beef noodle soup. The broth has become weak and the beef is just inedible. Stringy, fatty, sinewy, can't be chewed. Spring rolls used to be amazing, they were no good last time. Really wanted to see things improve, and we did have one order of the soup recently that was better, but the latest one was just awful again. We ended up with a big stringy pile of beef fat on our plates. Unfortunately we have had to decide not to eat UR PHO anymore because when it's poor quality more often than not, at ~$50 for two people, that's not a gamble...
Read moreHave dined at Ur Pho many times with a variety of friends and always leaving astonished at how wonderful the food was. It keeps surprising. Fresh, tasty, delicious and great value for money. There's an honest vibe of wanting to please the guest, with Tim, the owner & chef, greeting you on many occasions. The service is verygood, always trying to please. I'm always asking for ice and they deliver. My favourite entrees are the Crispy pancake and the fresh spring rolls. With the mains, the Shaking beef is a gold medal winner. Everything I've eaten here has been excellent, from Duck to the soups. Topping it off, it's Byo. I walk away with a full tummy but not heavy, a spring in my step, feeling great and definitely coming back. For another...
