Waterfront Pavilion — Restaurant in Taree

For Taree, it's not bad I suppose. But it's far from being great. Overpriced for what it is and there are more misses than hits.

Location: Pretty much the only restaurant in Taree to make use of the lovely river views. But due to the poor design of the balcony railing, you can't actually see the river if you're sitting indoors.

Service: Friendly but largely absent. Upon entering, there's no obvious place to go. We ended up asking at the bar about our reserved table. There's no welcome desk or area at all. Sadly, there is no table service, which a place like this really should have. Nobody asked if we were ok or needed anything.

Food: Really mixed reviews. I had the gnocchi which was actually delicious ... But there were literally 9 gnocchi pieces and a little sauce and rocket leaves. At $24, that's $2.66 per piece! It's potato and flour ... Really a rip-off price. Both desserts we tried were just bad. I had the banana fritters with peanut butter ice cream. It was stodgy and bland and the ice cream actually came from Coles (yes, really... I know this particular ice cream well). You'd kinda expect store-made ice cream...

Overall it’s disappointing ! Queueing to place the order for your food is ok if there are enough tills and enough staff to take your order in reasonable time but queueing for over15 minutes is not acceptable. The restaurant is very noisy and conversation was impossible. The food was reasonable but not outstanding. I was thrilled to see my favourite gin behind the bar, Gordon’s Pink gin but confused to be told rather ungraciously “ I can’t serve you that. It’s not on my till “ Why on earth is it on a shelf in the bar in that case ? We left as soon as the meal was over and went elsewhere for coffee where we could hear ourselves speak. Wont...

Memorial service held for my father. Staff were exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Food and coffee and drinks were excellent. Manager Donna was very knowledgeable in what was needed and followed up with phone calls and emails to ensure all went well. Venue has amazing view and loads of space. Wall mounted TV ‘s to accommodate any presentation. Stage areas either end to again provide spaces for performers. Exceptionally clean. Highly recommended for celebrations. Parking available but popular during regular daylight trading hours...
