Uncle Tom's Chinese — Restaurant in Tenterfield

As echoed in the reviews of others…Wow! This little, humble Chinese restaurant is a chameleon! We expected same old same old as we receive at any other Chinese restaurant but were shocked off our feet! The staff are incredibly friendly and happy to answer any questions about their offerings, and it only gets better from there! We were stunned to purchase three mains and an entrée and barely pay $40 (May ’25 - takeaway). The flavours were very authentic, the serving sizes to capacity, and the taste…amazing! Add to that the low cost of the dishes and it took both myself and my wife back to when your parents took you out as kids in the ’80 for a Chinese meal, and you knew from the taste it was all made from scratch! No bottled or pre-prepared ingredients, and for those that are concerned, no MSG. Can’t wait to pass through...

Visiting Tenterfield from Brisbane for the weekend. There were two Chinese restaurants along the same street and I am super thankful my partner & I chose this joint from the very few reviews they’ve received thus far. Delicious Chinese take out food. It’s what you’ll expect from western Chinese cuisine BUT their curry puffs, spring rolls, sweet & sour pork, fried rice & pork spare ribs (we ordered pack C from their menu) we’re really delicious & flavourful. We walked up to order and buy our takeaway as other comments have said closing hours not consistent but I am so glad we did. The owners both serve and cook. Neither not young but so very talented. Seriously the best Chinese food I have ever had. Well done to the owners. Working so hard. Worth just going up and ordering. Went across the road to the pub and had a lovely wine while waiting....
