Some meals are so good that no amount of praise feels sufficient, and Los Dos Hombres is definitely one of those places. On our first night in Entrance, after a long drive from Sydney, we were exhausted and just wanted a quick bite before heading to our hotel in Gosford. We decided to stop by Los Dos Hombres, and it was the best decision of the night.
We started with the Charred Sweet Corn, prepared with lime chili butter, queso fresco, and smoked ancho mayo. It was the perfect starter—simple yet bursting with flavor. For the main course, we ordered the Sizzling Fajita, a Tex-Mex dish marinated and grilled with onion and trio capsicum, served with tortilla bread, garden salad, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, pickled onion, jalapeños, and tomato salsa. The beef was incredibly juicy and tender, making the dish truly outstanding.
In fact, the food was so good that we returned the next day for lunch, and it was equally amazing. This time, I tried their Lamb Shank, which was slow-cooked to perfection. The rich, delicate flavors of the mole negro paired beautifully with the Mexican rice, corn and sweet onion salsa, and Mexican cactus salad with pomegranate. If you’re a fan of lamb shank, you must try this dish!
Our kids enjoyed their cheeseburger, and we also shared the Burrito Bowl, made with Mexican rice, pinto beans, garden salad, ahi Amarillo aioli, guacamole, sour cream, pickled corn salsa, lime, and corn totopos. It was fresh, vibrant, and delicious.
The food, the service, and the overall atmosphere were all top-notch. If I ever travel through the coastal region again, Los Dos Hombres will definitely be a...
Read moreThis place is awesome. Everything about it is fabulous. The food was the tastiest Mexican I have ever had and presented so thoughtfuly delicately. Every bite was a tastebud thrilling pleasure and the meals are a generous serving. We got an entree and a main each and I couldn't eat all mine and ended up getting a takeaway container for the rest. The friendly and helpful staff made a huge difference on the vibe and the dining experience. I couldn't decide what to order and our waiter explained the meals to me and showed me pictures of them until we established what would suit my appetite (without making me feel like I was wasting his time) they gave us sombrero hats, played cool music and took great pics for us to treasure our memories there. The service was impeccable and food came quick. It was Saturday night and very busy but we were well looked after from the warm welcoming to the sweet good night. We walked out of there feeling very cheerful and positive (and very full) I don't think it would matter what meal you get, all the slow cooked meat looked amazing in other dishes too. Look forward to returning here! Highly recommend! Oh and there was a separate room next door for overflow people to dine in if main area is too full, also street dining with cool tablecloths. Love the art on the walls too! Oh and they played happy birthday and brought out the prearranged storebought cake and candles with their knife and plates for everyone to be served - Just lovely! They have 1 shared toilet in the shop next door but they will kindly show you where to go.. Absolutely loved it. Thanks so much for a great night out...
Read moreRecently moved to the area and was excited to bring my family here for a Saturday night dinner. The reviews are all excellent, so we were primed for an amazing experience. Sadly, it was anything but.
The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. We initially ordered only mains, however the waiter encouraged us to order entrees as "we are busy and the mains might take while", so we added a couple of shared plates to the order.
So we waited...and waited and waited.
It took over an hour for the entrees to come out and when they did they were, at best, lukewarm. The flavours were good, and I'm sure had we received them hot and freshly cooked, they would have been fantastic, but clearly they had been sitting there for at least 20 mins before they came out.
The mains arrived soon after and (aside from the Fajitas which were sizzling hot and delicious), everything was lukewarm and clearly not fresh straight from the kitchen. The burritos were not only lukewarm, but were very dry. The clump of pulled beef in the beef burrito was like chewing gum. The chicken burrito was tasteless and again just sooo dry.
Two more minor criticisms -
The Mexican hats they use for groups and photos are used and reused between different tables of guests, so I would avoid putting them on unless you want to share head-lice and other possible infections.
Seriously, a Mexican restaurant without a license. You cannot be serious about serving Mexican food without margaritas and Coronas.
We will...
