On The Beach Holiday Apartments — Hotel in Trinity Beach

The main office is located on the Esplanade, the lady that runs the office is very nice and helpful. We booked a transfer from the airport to the accommodation with the office. The transfer stopped at the office so we can collect the keys then took us around to the accommodation. Please note if you choose the ocean view 2bedroom, the apartment blocks are located on the street behind, so about 70m away. You need to either drive up to them as if you have luggage you can’t haul it up the hill or the steep staircase. These blocks have no lift I think only one of the blocks did. The apartment itself was spacious and the balcony was great and you can hear the ocean, however it needed an upgrade. The furniture and bedding was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever come across in Cairns. You could not sit on the sofa, the springs were long gone and it was lumpy, the beds were so uncomfortable and so were the pillows. The dining table chairs were also very uncomfortable to sit on, you had to put a cushion on the chair to sit. The carpet was stained as well and the sofa needed a good vacuuming in between the sofa seats. The location was great, there are 3 or 4 places to eat all very good, there is a bus stop nearby and you can take the bus to Cairns CBD, we went a few times, you can walk to a small shopping mall with a small supermarket for small extras, there is a convenience shop on the esplanade but it’s extremely expensive. When you check out ensure you are picked up from the apartment you are staying at as if you have luggage like we did and we were going to be picked up at a later time from the office area, you will need to bring down your own bags. There is a steep staircase that links the top apartments to the office area, so you need to carry your luggage down the stairs in the complex then down the steep staircase that links the top of the road to the office or roll them down the road all the way to the office. If you have small carry on you will be fine, otherwise you need to book a lower apartment. This is a hard one... the location is fantastic - right on Trinity Beach, with excellent restaurants and facilities nearby. The apartment on first impression was excellent - large, well equipped, clean... unfortunately, after turning the AC on water started to pour from it, called reception and was told to come and get some towels, which we did, the manager obviously wanted to get home (even though there was still 1.5hrs left of opening hours) as he said nothing he could do until monday (we arrived friday afternoon), said have a nice weekend and shut the door! By this time, the room was boiling (35 outside), went back to reception, and was given pretty short shrift. I was told to crank the bedroom ones up, and it would be fine - it wasn't! Tried to log on to the WiFi- no info anywhere - we were told there was a welcome letter in the room - there wasn't. Back to reception.. manager told me to reboot it and then locked the door and shouted, "Back open at 8am tomorrow."

In Summery: description states... Secure parking - gate broken, so car park not locked. Free WiFi- only if you are happy to restart routers and discover the ip address and password with no assistance. Air Conditioning - main area unit not working, so the room is incredibly hot. Cranking up the bedroom units resulted in a funky smell and a damp feel in the room. Washing facilities - there is a washing machine, but it says cold wash only.

The above four things may not sound like much, but they were important factors in us booking this property. There was no customer service or support - hence the poor...

Location is terrific. Just across the road from fabulous Trinity Beach and easy stroll to many options to eat and drink. There are 2 blocks of apartments next door to each other. We stayed in room 6 level 1 in the block next door to the office and unfortunately the experience left a bad taste and we won't be going back. Check in was at 2pm but the room wasn't ready until 4.. and then when we requested a later check out it was a flat out no and when I mentioned about the late check in was told that the next guests were likely to experience that anyway. Going by that reasoning they needed us out of our apartment because it was going to take 6 hours to clean it, but based on what I saw on checkin they are understaffed and don't manage things great. Theres no place to leave luggage if you need it left between checkin/out and travelling. Our apartment was in poor repair and we couldn't use the main bathroom because the shower hose was broken and spraying water all over the bathroom ceiling. Pretty sure that when they clean the rooms they'd notice that but it took us to tell them before they fixed it. Also doors were off their hinges and general maintenance was poor. No spare towels for beach or pool, byo. Was told they'd run short. Wifi reception and internet bandwidth is terrible which is really bad because 4g at that location is not great. You can tell these apartments try to cut corners where they can get away with it. So in all we won't be staying there again but will be returning to Trinity Beach cause the location is amazing.
