Celebrated my birthday at this restaurant with my partner and was thoroughly disappointed.
Food and drinks look amazing on photos but that's about it.
3 different servers attended our table even though one server introduced himself and said he would be looking after us they were just all over the place.
Took 30 mins before we even got our drink order. Another lengthy wait before entree of small oysters arrived, which we didn't even get to enjoy before the mains arrived abruptly with the garlic bread coming out after mains.
We had Mango Daquiri's that tasted watered down and more like Oranges, we then ordered a Pina Colada but even that tasted like a watered down disappointment and another lengthy wait.
The mains were over priced. $70 beef and reef main which I requested medium rare and the steak was going towards medium/medium well.
My partner wondered if we should get dessert and at this point I said why bother, it's only going to come out late and then taste more like something else entirely or not have any taste at all.
We ended up going woolworths to get sticky date pudding which tasted better than the whole experience.
We politely finished our food and drinks but would not recommend this restaurant if you wanted to celebrate something memorable.
Understandably, the restaurant was busy last night but the staff were just not in sync to provide a decent service, quality of food and drinks need to be reviewed...
Read moreFor the prices charged I was expecting something fairly fresh and made on the premises with a nice amount of Italian flair. Sadly I was disappointed- arrancini were deep fried and flavorless and served with sweet chili sauce, and the “salt and pepper squid” also came out of the deep fryer, but consisted of some small fragments of squid (6) and six large calamari rings, all battered and dumped on wilted rocket and pickled onion, again with a serve of sweet chili sauce! (See pic) When I asked the waitress about squid being mixed with calamari, I was argued with by both the server and then the owner who kept raising his voice to say that “squid don’t just crawl around by themselves, they have a tube part which is their head, I know because my brother’s a fisherman” at least four times in front of the restaurant of diners! My husband and I both had to ask him to stop several times before he withdrew muttering… So given the many good reviews of this place, I’m sure there are many people who enjoy their pasta and the beautiful ocean paintings on the walls, but FFS don’t complain about anything! And given that Carlos (the owner) was threatening that he had “the perfect response” to this review “unless it’s good” when we left the restaurant, it will be interesting to see how gracious this gentleman is when he’s cooled down and no longer feels threatened by a diner asking questions. Very...
Read moreOverpriced for what the food and drinks are. It was only two of us, we felt a bit uncomfortable when we first arrived at the establishment, being non-locals on business; being stared at and we could feel their hesitance in providing service/lack of warmth to us, with the exception of one young lady. What seemed to have bettered the level of service was upon seeing that we are high-paying customers. We had to remind staff for items on two occasions (bottle we ordered), despite the busyness, the lack of communication with the patrons could be improved upon.
Anyway, the oysters were fresh which was great and to be expected. Pizza was oily, tasted quite generic. The Barefoot mascato was $32 per bottle, when RRP normally ranges from $6-12 per bottle and $30~ for 6. I would have no complaints paying the this kind of price for the food, but only if it the standards (quality, finesse) matched. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) being a bottle and half in, made the food seem better. Tiramisu was lacking in the richness and flavour. Lemon posset was decent.
Would I go there again? Absolutely not. This was just for two...
