This is wholesome, basic accommodation. The rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. The floorboards creak, so no risk of intrudors, you'd hear them already in the hall. The venetian blinds didn't quite block out the light. We had room 9, which faces Reibey St, so early mornings were woken with the joy of modified mufflers on motorbikes or utes that sounded like they were taking off in the ensuite. There was a kitchenette opposite with good equipment (fridge, toater, toaster oven, iron and board, tea, coffee, etc).

Booked lunch for our wedding anniversary on AUSTRALIA DAY, got the table right in the window (beaut sunny day!) Amazed at the prices, compared to other places. Hubby ordered the chicken schnitzel, I went high end and got the seafood plate. Wow... I was very impressed! Crispy-fried fish, scallops, prawns, perfectly tender squid, golden chips, smoked salmon, mussels and a tasty salad for under $40. Will definitely be coming back sooner rather than later!

I had dinner for my mother's birthday earlier this week and was disgusted by the service and the food. All of our meals were cold and the chips were soggy. The seafood plate came out with food that looked like it had come straight out of a packet. One of the people at my table ordered the salmon and an additional side of chips. When the salmon came out without the chips, we politely reminded them about the chips. The waitress (Anne) let out a massive sigh and walked back to the kitchen to bring back "$6 worth of chips" which in reality was about 10 cold chips that were clearly just the leftovers in the deep fryer. It appeared they were too lazy to cook up a fresh batch. When the disgusting chips were brought out, my partner realised he had asked for mushroom gravy when he ordered, so he requested some again. Anne then said "well you just want everything don't you" without a hint that she was joking. The overall service was an absolute joke and the food was revolting. No one at my table or myself will ever be setting foot in this...

Went for luncheon with 3 elders of my order at the Bistro. They all had the Light lunches which were $10. The flathead tails were rather insubstantial but the batter was crispy and the chips (commercial fries) were also crisp. Salads were presented in a miserable thimble-thingy, but the dressing was zingy.||I had a barramundi dish ($25) which was beautifully cooked, garnished with 3 juicy prawns and sauced with a sweet cream sauce. Was rather good. Pity they won't source local seafood. Laziness and a disservice to the Tasmanian economy.|Wasn't offered a wine list so I can't comment on the breadth of their cellar. Drinks are to be had from the bar. Service staff are efficient and cheerful.|The room itself is clean and spacious but lacking in character and in need of a clever decorator.|This venue is unpretentious, serves well-cooked meals and ...
