Elephant & Castle Hotel — Restaurant in Victoria

Oh my goodness! What a beautiful pub!! The locals are very lucky to have these charming building within walking distance! Well where do I start, firstly the stunning flowers and greenery "growing from the bricks" of this building will have you entranced, we weren't quite sure where to sit with our 2 border collies but the lovely bar man was very helpful and pointed us to a completely enclosed outdoor area with many tables to choose from. Within minutes of sitting down, our 2 dogs were greeted with a bowl of water and lots of pats. Just before our food arrived, our dogs were treated to some treats from the kitchen from the most amazing waitress (thank you so very much for making us and our dogs feel so welcome) our food arrived garlic bread and a parma to share, absolutely delicious and we were very grateful to the kitchen as we did arrive some time after 2pm on a Sunday I'm sure they were nearly ready to do clean up etc before dinner service, not that you would know from the quality of food! Could not recommend the Elephant and Castle Hotel more if we tried, an absolute must if you have fur babies, I can assure you they will be treated like kings and queens! Look forward to...

Except for the Classics on the menu, most dishes had lots of ingredients that are not quite simple to understand what they mean. The dishes were quite pricey considering the quality. We ordered the linguini seafood and the pasta was overcooked, so were the scallops - hard rock. The number of prawns in the dish was apauling - three in total - my husband could not finished his dish as there was so much pasta and little seafood. I ordered the traditional Parma, without chips, only with salad. I paid the same price as the one with everything and received the exact same amount of salad. The price or the serve was not adapted accordingly. My kids had the kids fish and chips and the fish batter was leaking oil. Kids meals come with a soft drink. We did not realise in the kids menu, went to the bar and ordered a drink to then and paid extra for it. Very disappointed today ! I booked on the phone last week to have lunch and spend the day at Elephant and Castle pub today for Grand Final. Rang this morning at 11:30am to confirm time for our booking and staff couldn’t find our name for our table. Was told to come in and seats would be rearranged Arrived at 12:30pm. Still a bit of mix up, but we’re shown to table and all was well We were there for an hour and then manager came to our table and said we had to move to another table where there was poor viewing for grand final. We were asked if we had pre payed for booking and I said ‘no’ as there was no offer of doing so when I phoned to make booking. Very unimpressed. and we sadly won’t be back !
