Highly recommended! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Felix Geelong with a group of friends on a Thursday night, and I must say, it was a remarkable experience from start to finish after hearing overhearing some people discussing it one Sunday night out.
Hidden away on Downes Lane, just off Little Malop Street in Geelong, Felix Restaurant offers a delightful blend of modern interpretations of European classics, accompanied by impeccable service and a cozy ambiance and comes from the team at ALMA another great restaurant in Geelong.
With the hard choice of choosing dishes from the list of options, we opted for the 3-course meal, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. On their second night of the new menu, the amount and variety of dishes available was truly impressive, and each plate was a burst of flavours and creativity. The concept of sharing the food added a communal touch to our evening, allowing us to savour and enjoy the culinary journey together. To complement our meal, we indulged in a bottle or two of wine, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Favourite dishes included the Chicken liver, the Lamb and the Duck.
A major highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the culinary expertise of Head Chef John Carter and his talented team. Their dedication to their craft was evident in every dish we savoured. The modern twist on French classics showcased their culinary innovation while maintaining the essence of traditional flavours. What truly elevated our experience was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles and a genuine willingness to make our evening enjoyable. Their attentiveness added to the overall relaxed and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant, making us feel right at home.
In conclusion, Felix Geelong is a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered by anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience. The combination of delectable dishes, welcoming staff, and a cozy ambiance creates the perfect setting for a memorable evening. Whether you're a fan of European cuisine or simply looking for a place to enjoy a delightful shared meal with friends and family, Felix Restaurant is the...
Read moreHaving a one-year-old and living away from our families in Sydney, while back with my in-laws for Christmas my fiancee and I took the opportunity to get out for an adults-only lunch date.
Pressure was on me to pick somewhere to spend our precious hours alone together and I nailed it, thanks mainly to the food, staff and setting of Felix.
We arrived straight on 12 as the doors were opening, and a good half an hour before our seating. Thankfully our eager timekeeping wasn't an issue and we were seated straight away.
We ordered a bottle of the Voyager Estate to share over lunch, it was a great start. We then couldn't decide what to eat but our waitress helped with an explanation of the 2-course set menu which we opted for.
First up was the Kingfish with buttermilk, cucumber & radish and Spannercrab profiteroles with lemon mayonnaise which were a personal favourite for me. Melt in your mouth good!
Next up Chickpea Panisse w/ roast capsicum & zucchini, Fried potato beignets w/ gruyere and Leaves, mustard & cracked pepper which may not sound like much, but the beignets hit the spot so well that both my fiancee and I stopped moving temporarily as the flavour hit!
We rounded out with the Pork tomahawk with rockmelon & kohlrabi. We were both a little unsure about the rockmelon addition but the sweetness and lightness it added to an already perfectly cooked pork was phenomenal.
With time away from our baby so limited and hard to come by I am so thankful we chose to spend it at Felix this time. Everything from the wonderful service, the food and the atmosphere was just a step up on so many other places, and the price points are not too much of a dent in the wallet for what you get. If I didn't live in Sydney I'd be back a lot sooner if I got the...
Read moreWe were excited to eat at felix as we had an excellent experience at their Alma restaurant. The decor is gorgeous and the warm welcome and professional service exemplary. Great wheelchair amenities also . We found the food underwhelming, well cooked and presented but lacking in texture and flavors. We Had 5 dishes , the most disappointing, crab profiteroles, soggy base ,bland mayo overpowering the crab . The best was the cauliflower dish o.k but have had better cauliflower dishes at other places. Worse part of lunch experience... a family of about 10 was sat on the table next to us , the 2 children were sat right next to us ( tables so close they were practically sharing our table ... ) the children were not well behaved, arguing and getting up and down from the table a lot...even using our table to put hand on while getting up and almost knocked my glass of wine over. I have nothing against kids as long as they are appropriately behaved in certain circumstances.. next 2 " kids meal " of chicken nuggets and chips were delivered, the smell of fried food and tomato sauce permeated the air . .. the fine dining ambience was reduced to Fast Food vibe .. we frequently over years dine at fine dining venues and have never had this sort of experience before. We went somewhere else for our deserts and coffee. Perhaps it's a new category of dining. Fine dining/ Fast food Fusion ...) . If I go for a pub or casual bistro meal I do not expect a Fine dining experience and Visa Versa. Sorry Felix, one star off for the ordinary food and 2 stars off for the fast food fusion...
