We went here for Valentines Day last night and we are disgustingly disappointed! We where looking forward to coming here as it was great on our last visit.. however this time was just not acceptable. Between two people we spent $170 and we received 2 serves of octopus one of which was overcooked and the other was barely cooked at all, soggy cold chips, the whitebait "special" was soggy, cold and not crispy at all they where literally like sardines in wet oily batter.. then the mains come out which we had not been asked if we were ready for yet (2 main serves of calamari) within about 5-10 minutes of getting our entrees which we had barely finished. The main calamari was also oily and soggy and heavily undercooked.. even the lemon potato was wet and cold.. we barely ate any of anything on the plate. The only thing that was half decent was the service at the beginning.. until we complained about the food when our plates got collected, after that we never even got offered a second drink or even desert.. disgusting food and service.. this is not how "authentic" Greek should be.. was more like soggy careless pub food. We took ourselves to another bar afterwards and spent a further $200 on drinks and cocktails where we actually felt welcome on Valentines Day. Thanks Mav's.. top effort on a special day for couples 👎 we will never return here.
**UPDATE: In response to owners comments.. we definitely not did not leave any tips you absolutely have your facts wrong or thinking of another table. We where table No. 30 at 6:30pm, we ordered: 2 x entree octopus ($25 each) 1 x whitebait ($15) 1 x chips with feta ($12) 2 x main calamari ($31 each) 1 x extra taramosalata sauce ($6) 1 x margarita cocktail ($16) 1 x mythos beer ($9) which may i add i didn't even get a glass with 🙄 Pretty sure that adds up to $170 mate. We usually always tip well.. but would never tip such terrible food and service such as this experience at...
Read moreSo a bit of a mixed review, called in reserved a table great service, got there seated in next to bar and waiters counter in a tight corner not great, asked to move across to a table that became open next to a window, this was done great service as we sat down at new table our food arrived I turned my head to look out the window and there was a DEAD FLY on the window sill when asked for it to be moved I was told it's a bit of protein when I asked the waiter if he would like to eat it as protein he declined . Greek salad was more lettuce than anything else 2 small pieces of feta looked more like a general salad than a Greek salad, the main course took over an hour to get... My partner decided she wanted Moussaka about 10 minutes after I had ordered my Main course. Which then arrived 20 min after my main course so they never aligned there plating so I was finished and we then had to wait to get hers it then arrived and she took a bite of it and was immiadetly disappointed as was not what she expected the manager was called he asked what was wrong she explained wasn't what she was expecting as and didn't taste right. He explained that's how they made it instead of offering another meal or a refund we were charged for it which only had a spoon out of it 🤣😂 at 30 dollars that was an expensive spoon. But the topping on the cake came when I asked for the bill besides the 30 dollars been added for not paying cash and using a debit card I was charged another 1.7 percent surcharge . This was really a sad end in what I hoped to be a great night at a restaurant I was told is the best. Sadly I won't be recommending it. I think maybe MAVS has lost touch with there customers and worrying about...
Read moreAbsolutely disgraceful service! We walked in were greeted by a lovely waitress but it all went downhill after that. Took a long time to actually get served with people constantly walking past. Then it comes to getting served and the waiter was brash and quite frankly just outright rude. Admittedly we did ask a couple of questions as we had not been before and were wondering how the likes of the kids meal is served. Whether it’s in a wrap or open. Didn’t think it was an unreasonable question? We also asked about the gyros wrap we had seen online as we didn’t see it on the menu and were told very hastily it was Sunday and they don’t have it. After getting the kids order wrong and getting flustered he scribbled over his paper sighed and said let’s just start again. We ended up looking at him and said you know what don’t worry about it we will just pay for our drinks and be gone. When we said we would like to just pay for the drinks and go He was shocked and asked what’s going on? He asked a few times pressing us for an answer and as we didn’t want the conflict we said look just don’t worry we will just head off. we were genuinely shocked that he did not understand his own behaviour. We will never go back and would recommend others not too either no matter how good the food may be. We paid and were once again given such rudeness when simply asking if they took Amex.
We have never experienced such disgraceful service before. Ended up down the road at another eatery who quite frankly Mav’s Staff could take some lessons from on customer service. Cocktail was nice though as was the initial waitress...
