Me and my partner stayed here for two days over the weekend and it was absolutely perfect. We got stuck in some bad traffic on the way up and arrived quite late, after the reception had closed. The managers allowed us to pay in the morning which we felt was extremely considerate and kind. That consideration and kindness continued through out our stay as me and my partner received advice and suggestions on where to eat and the best tracks to hike, as well as encouragement to spend time in their beautiful veggie garden and feed and pet their ducks. We are big animal lovers and immensely enjoyed it, we would go back for the ducks alone. Kelly, one of the managers also went as far as to harvest us some fresh herbs and greens straight from the garden, and she was very knowledgeable on their health benefits, and how best to serve them. The location of the motel is also fantastic as the main strip is only a couple minutes up the road. It is super close to everything and also a hotpsot for wildlife, we would wake up in the morning to a kangaroo out the front. Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable and the water pressure was great. No complaints, it was amazing and the managers especially really made a positive impact, even let us stay longer the following day (our check out) Really affordable and was honestly the best and we'll...
Read moreI stayed here for 2 nights recently. The high rating and good reviews made me have better expectations than what I actually experienced. Let's talk about the good part first. I liked that we could park our car right in front of our room's entrance door. Other than the tv, fridge, kettle and tea stuff, there was a toaster and microwave available as well which usually are not provided unless you book cabins or suites so that was a plus point. Room was spacious enough as well and the bed had electric blanket on it which is a blessing on cold nights. Now the disappointing part, there were a lot of insects in the room, spiders, mosquitoes and even ants that didn't spare any eatable thing kept around the microwave area. No toiletries were provided other than just liquid soap which I was quite disappointed to see. So you better take your bathing stuff with you if you choose to stay here. They refused to clean the rooms. Didn't bother to check the vaccination status of us when we checked in which is a huge question mark!! There was no bin in the toilet either. But yes, If you like to see a lot of kangaroos, you can find plenty of them...
Read moreWe stayed at the Gariwerd motel for two nights over the Australia day weekend. Super hot weather but as soon as we walked in to our room for the first time we felt very refreshed and relieved. Had a few bad experiences lately with motels/airbnb but we definitely made a good choice in the Gariwerd. The room was fresh smelling and very, very clean. Friendly staff who had taken over recently (according to their information folder. And kudos for the funny quips and signs around the motel) and embraced the eco with less bins/miniatures to save the planet. Also loved the native herbs planted around. A/C was great in the room and location was great too. My advice though if you want a little more relaxing and unbroken sleep is to ask for a room away from the kitchenette. We were in room 4 which was right next door and even though there were signs asking to be quiet and not to be there after 10pm, both nights there were people making noise and taking/eating/moving chairs at 1:30 & 3am respectively. Overall it was a great experience and looking for to getting back...
