Frank and Connie’s used to be one of my favourite restaurants in Daylesford, I used to love the food, the service, and the ambience it has to offer. Naturally, Frank and Connie’s was the first restaurant I highly recommended we visit on a girls weekend, however, our visit over the weekend was disappointing. The food was hit-and-miss, and the service was not what you would expect from a restaurant of this calibre, to say the least. We provided feedback on the batter of Crispy Eggplant being too tough and nowhere near being crispy, the lady we spoke to then, in front of us, at the table, used her fingers with force, tried squashing the leftover eggplant which was too tough for us to finish and told us that that is in fact how they do their batter. We felt that this action was very inappropriate, the plate could have been taken to the back and “testing” can be done then. We were then provided with a not-so-gentle reminder that we were required to give our table back half an hour before our allocated time was up and was told that they need to clean up for the next session, by then we were done with our meals and so there was no hesitation for us to get out of Frank and Connie’s as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be visiting Frank and Connie’s next time I am up in the area, there are definitely a lot of nicer restaurants in Daylesford or Hepburn with better food...
Read moreAt Frank and Connie’s Kitchen, a venue that initially hinted at culinary delights, the ensuing service was a performance falling woefully out of step. The prolonged wait of thirty minutes to merely glimpse a menu foreshadowed a series of service missteps that would challenge the patience of the most understanding patron.
The choreography of a well-timed meal was lost; dishes paraded out in haphazard succession, with a starter's tardy arrival post-main course defying convention and logic. The intervals between dishes stretched interminably, punctuating the evening with pauses rather than courses.
While one might extend grace to a bustling establishment, the busy nature of a restaurant is a circumstance to manage, not an excuse for service that undermines the very ethos of hospitality. This is especially true in a setting where the prices boldly proclaim a premium experience—yet the service provided was anything but.
At over $40 per main, one does not merely pay for food; one pays for an experience—an orchestration of taste, presentation, and timing. Unfortunately, on this occasion, Frank and Connie’s Kitchen presented a symphony of flavors out of sync, a composition in need of...
Read moreThe food was delicious with great flavours and seasonings. However, the service there was non-existent. We waiting 15 minutes after being seated for our drink order to be taken, once we finished our starters and they cleared the table (half cleared as we were left with dirty cultury and glasses) our second order of drinks never arrived.
When our mains arrived we reordered our drink and asked for side plates so that we could share the food, only to have our waitperson go clear 5 tables before completing our request for dinner.
After we finished our mains we waited another 10 minutes and with it now being a full 25 minutes since we had ordered more drinks to then see the waitperson sitting down having a chat with other customers.
At this point we got up walked to the till to pay (as who knows how long it would have taken for the bill to arrive).
Regret coming here, the only reason I am giving 3 stars is because the chef and the food were good. But the price you are paying for each dish, I'd expect far...
