I wish this was my local. Visiting Bendigo and needed a quick bite on the way home from a long day. Meal finished, we stayed on for the music and had a great night. The idea of trying to have a quiet family meal with a live band on does not really appeal to me, but the blend of high quality (and very reasonably priced) pub food and a great acoustic guitarist turned out to be very enjoyable. Food varied from excellent to good. Steak (9/10, for the price. Tasty porterhouse and well cooked, nice chips & fresh salad. Kids Spag bol, 8/10, beef burger 7.5 /10). Friendly staff and the crowd was great too. Some of them pitched in with the music if a duet was required (this was not Karaoke but musicians who happened to be there). Overpriced for poor quality food. When pasta arrived with no parmesan cheese at all, I requested a little parmesan. "You have to pay extra if you want any parmesan, our chef's are really strict". The penne was undercooked and crunchy in parts, pine nuts were past best eating and asted rancid, and pesto had no aroma or taste of basil. Ingredients cost less than $2.00.
