Kang Thai — Restaurant in Victoria

Normally in small towns, I'm disappointed with international foods, but I was very surprised at Kang.

I'm a bit of a foodie, maybe even a food snob. Here I was impressed with the authenticity AND quality. Better than many Thai food I've tried in Melbourne, in London, and many other places around the world.

Food... We had the chicken satay, seafood claypot ginger wok stir fried vegetables, and som tum. All delicious, I recommend ordering. The quality of ingredients used stood out. The som tum, ask for the authentic version with bits of salted crab. The seafood claypot had huge amounts of fresh and quality seafood. The ginger stir fry vegetables had lots of fresh ginger - despite this being an expensive ingredient here in Australia! This place doesn't skimp on quality ingredients.

Ambience... Very tastefully decorated by the owner. Plush leather chairs, interesting wall decorations. Quiet and not echoey. Good for date nights, business dinners, a special celebration.

The food pricing was very fair, and the portions were big. I recommend ordering 3 main dishes and a starter between 4 people.

The only downside? The non alcoholic drink pricing looked very expensive. $10 for iced Thai milk tea? $8 for lemon and lime bitters? Wow.

If I stayed in Bendigo, I would come here all the time...

Very poor service. Staff stood around and looked at you. Very Very slow. Arrived at 6pm order placed 6.15. No vegetarian spring rolls available. Entrees received approx 6.45. Had to go up and ask for water for tables. Went up to ask how much longer would our mains be at 7.30. Told that we would be next. Others served before us. Meals arrived at approximately 8.00. With only half the servings of rice. When queried we were told that they had run out of rice. Some of the kids were upset because they had missed out. Asked to see manager. He came out not very happy that we had complained and started to speak very roughly to us which again upset our children. We told him to not talk like that we were very disappointed in his manner and to leave us alone to eat and we would discuss it with him when we went to pay. When we went to pay we asked that he should apologise and we were not paying for the rice and were reluctant to pay full price for the meals. He was again very defensive and said "what's wrong you at the meals." Definitely won't be back and suggested that he might want to look at a career change. The 2 stars are for the food. Probably 5 stars if the other...

Ordered an hour ago and still waiting for food. I provided full delivery instructions and even put a pin on the map on the website/order form.

Called the restaurant and apparently the driver is lost. They get me to call the driver instead of giving the driver all the instructions and my number to call if he can't find the address.

I called the driver and he went somewhere else after not being able to find the place, instead of calling me when he was near to the actual location. So he's been driving aimlessly with my food getting cold! Great. So when my food arrived it was luke warm and entree was cold.

I was charged an $8 delivery fee so I expect the driver to have all the instructions and my number to call if lost. I as the customer shouldn't be calling the driver for the restaurant.

In total I paid $49 and found the frieed rice with only 1 piece of broccoli, and not much vegetables as described on the menu.

The seafood salad had a lot of chilli though it didn't indicate on the menu that it would have a lot of chilli in it.
