The food was nice and the drinks were good, but unfortunately we didn't have a great experience at Reed & Co due to our waitress.
We chose to dine here because we hoped to do a tasting with dinner and buy some bottles of Gin. We were excited to try the variety of their spirits, but when we tried to order the flight of tasters our waitress said it was not possible at this time due to them being understaffed. I completely appreciate the difficulty of being understaffed and the time pressures it creates and wanting to give customers the best experience. But how much time can serving a flight/tasting platter take? We didn't need a lengthy tasting experience and explanation, we just wanted to try their range of products. The tasting came with information cards which we saw when other customers ordered the tasting platters (with no issues mind you). Because we didn't get to do the tasting we didn't buy any bottles like we had hoped to which was disappointing.
Our same waitress also refused to turn the aircon off when we asked. We were seated in a private dining space out the back and asked for her to turn the air conditioner off as we were cold. She said she could turn it down but not off entirely, which made no difference to the temperature. At the end of the evening her colleague saw that we were all wearing our jackets and offered to turn off the aircon so im unsure why our waitress couldn't do it in the first place.
The distillery itself is cool and the drinks they offer are interesting. I really liked this place, but unfortunately our waitress made the evening disappointing.
Had a really great coffee and bacon and egg roll in the morning...really good. The guy told us about Koji Bird operating at nights in the same space so we decided to come back for that. Bloody hell, it was incredible. First up, the wine...we got the cheapest on the menu and it was under $70 and it was amazing. So great with the food. We ordered tempura veggies with curry salt - best tempura I've ever had. We got steamed rice...I don't know what the seasoning was but best rice I've ever had. The wagyu beef was ridiculously good and the chicken was incredible. I've never paid $13 for an iceberg lettuce but I'd buy theirs again and again. The straw smoked potatoes were amazing...I'm running out of superlatives. The servers were super friendly, helpful and all round just great. We shazamed a bunch of the blues playlist running on sonos speakers...loved the vibe the songs created...paired with the decor and great lighting, the atmosphere was just perfect. We paid $220 for 2 of us but I have to say that after eating at all the other restaurants that were recommended to us, after a week stay, Koji Bird took the honours of being the best. It was the most expensive but it was definitely the winner. I'd give it more stars if I could.
