Really ordinary potato cakes. They were translucent. When you can see through a potato cake you know the potato has been sliced thinner than shaved ham! Two stars only because the batter was crispy and I love it crispy. This is an update - I wish I had taken a photo of the thinnest potato cakes ever from a place that calls itself "gourmet". I'm also changing the review to one star because the only reason the batter was crispy was because they had been overcooked in the first place anyway. They were incredibly bad and because it calls itself a "gourmet" shop, they cost more - $1.50 each!! I just had a feeling about the place when I noticed that a small serve of hand cut chips was $7.50. (Hand cut? What difference does that make anyway, other than it means you can up the price?) So I baulked at that and went to a takeaway burger place around the corner and ordered probably machine cut chips, small size which cost $5.00. Very wise decision. I thought I would post a photo of a real potato cake from a traditional fish & chip take away joint I went to last Thursday and the Thursday before that. And upholds that tradition by giving you an extra two when you order a dozen!! I will keep going back there but never again will I venture into a gourmet fish and (give me a...

PLEASE READ

It is disappointing to write such review but I want other people to be aware how atrocious their customer service could be. First instead of a greeting they asked some of our friends to leave the shop in such an ill-mannered way. I get it and respected what they said as we were there with our friends and the shop being small. It could be said politely. It is a disgrace we had to endure racism in a restaurant/take away. The guy who was taking our order literally made fun of our language straight to our face. He lacks manner and obviously no existence of customer service in his dictionary. At this covid time we wanted to support a local business instead, ordering from them was compared to a slap in the face. If I am to talk about food, it was overpriced and the fish was unseasoned. I would recommend a customer service training for their employees and learn to treat customers...

We had a fish and chips pack with salad and another piece of tempura grenadier. The salad needed more dressing and pizzaz - was like a salad greens mix from the supermarket with some token tomatoes and cucumbers. Tempura batter was not crispy but the fish was nicely done and fresh tasting which was about the only redeeming feature of this pack. 2 fresh small slices of lemon completed the pack. Chips were not crispy on the outside and texture inside was not soft (wonder if it has been in the freezer too long). I think a good dollop of tomato sauce might have helped with this meal. There is one large table inside for 6 and bench seating. There is a table outside for 4. I liked the crafted long bench seats outside with attractive plants. Very pleasant view outside in autumn. And during the festival you can enjoy the music from the bands and...

The 5 of us planned to get take-away fish and chips, and take back to the cabin in the Resort over the river. But because it was cold, we decided to eat there. Luckily the only table inside was open, so we commandeered it! The fish was absolutely fresh, and the chips were great. Very friendly and helpful personnel there. Yes, well recommended. Thank you
