We were given a bottle of room temp water, but the bottle was filthy. I used the napkin on the next table to clean my place. We ordered the advertised Passionfruit cooler, which was a cocktail designed to share and came in a jug. It was $38 and apparently had a single shot of Capt Morgan’s in it. (We could not taste it at all!!!) it was also mostly frozen and we had to ask for a straw each to actually get any liquid from our glasses. (Usually alcohol melts ice, but not in this case- in fact, our drinks stayed frozen for almost an hour!) We had the prawns for entree, but they lacked flavour and the batter was too thick! The steaks came with a potatoe, and everything else had to be ordered separately. We got a finger of bread each, and ordered stir fried broccoli which was a little too charred but had some delicious pepitas, and the roasted veg which came on a skewer. I like my steak ‘blue’ and have had it this way for years… it came out barely charred and still cold in the centre. My partner said his was perfect, but it came out ‘rare’. I sent my cold eye fillet back and it returned perfectly charred and warm and rare in the middle. Kudos to the chef for indulging my request. The blue cheese sauce was delicious as was the creamy garlic sauce. There was mostly excellent service except from comments about us from the waitresses re sending the steak back. (I don’t think they realised we...
Read moreUnfortunately, I had an undesirable experience tonight. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for many years, I don’t like to complain and I don’t like confrontation but I feel that this issue needs to be addressed. My steak was undercooked. I ordered a medium rare scotch fillet, however it was rare. No staff member came over to us during our meal to check that everything was ok, so the issue couldn’t be raised. We did let the waitress know when she was clearing our table.
When it was mentioned at the end as we were asked when paying, the staff member at the counter said “all the chefs had a look at it and we all agreed that it was medium rare, so I’m not sure what you’ve had else where but it mustn’t be the same”. I found this incredibly condescending as unbeknown to this staff member, we have eaten at many steakhouses, restaurants, pubs etc and always order our steaks medium rare. My point in saying this is, we know our meat and we understand fully the different temperatures and colours of steaks. I stand my point that the steak was undercooked and did not appreciate the response of this staff member. It was really unfortunate as besides this, we enjoyed our experience.
In saying this, I will always give credit where it is due. My partners medium rare steak was cooked to absolute perfection (which is also how we know mine was undercooked, as it looked nothing like his), all of the other food we had was amazing. We appreciated the offer of a complimentary dessert but we were content with all the...
