The attitude of the Male waiter was intimidating and condersending. His female colleuges were polite and engaging. I had been driving for an hour walked into the cafe and was taking in the food and decor of the cafe and was abruptly asked for my order. I said not sure, got tgis complete annoyed look. No body else was waiting to order & only half tge seats were full. I got the opinion, I should not waist his time. I politely excused myself and started checking out some store merchandise some of the female staff chatted about the merchandise and just general chatter. I thought maybe I misunderstood the vibe and was thinking to order a milkshake and coffee to take away and by a $40 bennie. I asked if the kitchen served carrots for I was happy to pay $1 extra for one for my Labrador/ Retriever tied up outside and the waitress smiles and turned towards the kitchen.. The male I saw earlier must of been listening in. In closed the space between us a metre or two and said abrubtly we will not let you buy a carrot. Shutting his fellow waitress down in a rude crawl way. I couldn't believe this guys arrogance. I said if my dog doesn't get this $1 carrot then you don't get by $60 order of a bennie and drinks & I made sure I spoke politely but clear enough for the other staff & customers to hear. No need for it. Less then 20 metres away I got amazing service at the Lemon Tree Cafe. Great Coffee, the dog got two large pieces of Tomato & a Strawberry. They got my business. It is a shame one persin can bring down a team but this arogance needs to be noted. I believe only in positive comment, but I was almost shaking with his attitude and forceful nature! I hope he learns that behavour needs to go back to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were recommended this cafe by some Shep locals. We were told it was a new place in town that was getting great reviews. It was packed when we got there. The staff were fantastic - we were greeted right away and they did their best to find us a seat (it probably would have been a good idea for us to book ahead). They were friendly and prompt. Gave us our menus not long after sitting down and took our drink orders. Thereās no drink menu per se, itās all in the waitersā heads, we were told. The menu looked good. Some yummy options on there for both brekky and lunch. The iced chai I had was quite weak. It would have been nice if it was stronger and had some ice cream in it. And to the food - it was nicely cooked, and presentation was on point. There was enough seasoning/salt, but I think it lacked a bit of flavour. Iāve forgotten the names of the dishes, but one was a mushroom dish and the other was a scrambled egg with thick cut bacon. They both could have done with a stronger-flavoured sauce. Prices are what youād expect from a place like this.
TL;DR: friendly staff, good options but food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSaw this Cafe last night passing in the street and decided that we would try and have breakfast here. OMG, when we arrived the que waiting was huge. This just proved even more that we have to wait and have breakfast here. We were greeted with a smile and told that there was a wait. The delightful young girl took down my details and we went for a walk around town. About 30 minutes later we got back and as we arrived I got a call to say, Hi, we have a table ready for you. OH! you're out the front, as she waved through the windows.
We were seated outside. Ice water on the table. Fun, friendly staff and a exiting menu. Tea and Coffee service straight away followed by prompt food service. This place is buzzing and yet the staff are smiling. It's so nice to see, they are interacting with customers and each other in such a lovely manner it's refreshing.
You must try the Chilli Scrabble. The Chilli jam has to be bottled its such a winner, I would have bought 6 bottles I'd it was. Such great flavour and heat. Wow.
Great job guys. Can't wait...
