Went there 2 days in a row on 19th May & 20th May. Served by the owner himself on the first day, Mr Jack Yang and we brought our own fresh chilli, being an asian we want everything to be hot in our dish. He didnt say anything preventing us from having it and he was jokingly said that we should bring some for him for the next visit. It was a good experience on the first day, food was good and the college girls and boys(waitress & waiter) are very polite and very good too. They give a very good service to customer but not particular one lady in stripes shirt that I find that she is kind of rude. I saw about 3 blokes walking in and had a little chat with one of the waiter there, and she just shouted at the blokes, “you come here” and “ you go to work” to the waiter and I find that it was quite intimidating as she sounds quite loud and rude. Being in hospitality you should know how to approach customers even though they might not do something right.
Went there on the second day which was the 20th May, and the lady in stripes shirt served us this time( when I want to order for the second round), she saw the fresh chillies which I brought, didn’t realise that it was against their rules, and began raise her voice, and asking me, what is this? You bring your own food? And she shouted loudly, “cant bring your own food here” and just took it away from me, and when my partner told her that your boss didnt say anything when we brought this chilli yesterday, she quickly replied which boss? Im the boss here( arrogantly)..!! And my partner point out at Mr Jack Yang, but still she just walked away with my chilli. I felt very embarrassed by her action. Few minutes later, Mr Jack Yang came back with my chilli and he was telling me nicely and politely that we are not supposed to bring anything from outside. I understand and accepting the way he approached me and telling me about that. This time we were there on the second session which start at 7.45pm. The food was not as good as day before, bean sprout was not fresh, the udon fried with beef was salty, teriyaki beef was not well marinated.
I even booked to dine in there again on the next sunday which on 26th May but I cancel it the next day because I was very very upset with the way that lady in stripes shirt served me.
It took me this long to write a review about it as I thought that I can walk away with it but it keeps on playing in my mind as I was never been treated like...
Read moreI visited Okami Japanese Restaurant today to attend special celebration of our friend. The all-you-can-eat option was fantastic with plenty of choices, satisfying everyone from the kids to the adults in our group. The atmosphere was lively and buzzing, great for a lavish meal. The saddening experience was from the staff who served us (table 52 group of nearly 20 people). We arrived a bit late from the booking time due to unexpected occurence in the church. The staff collected our order which are fine but I felt the we are being rushed by the staff. One of my friend is asking for an icecream at 1424, the last order has to be logged by 14.30 but one of your staff said it was too late in a condescending manner. A dessert that can be grabbed from the fridge. The way your staff communicate is very blunt. We spent a fortune for our lunch and we don’t deserve this treament after driving for nearly 3 hours from MEL CBD. Also, the staff was so eager to collect our empty plates. No warning nor a communication. I’ve been to one of your branches in Mornington and it was a bliss experience. Effective communication is crucial for hospitality professionals. Strong communication skills are essential for building rapport with guests, resolving conflicts, and ensuring a positive guest experience. This review is not a personal attack towards your staff but my aim is to foster the room for improvement. If they are on our position I reckoned they will also show animosities. Thank you and have...
Read moreWe have been to Okami on multiple occasions and have loved it. Unfortunately tonight I can’t say the same. My partner booked a table for two as a surprise for Valentine’s Day and had another booking which we missed due to the crazy wait time. We even got to Okami early which was fine. We ordered and only 1 plate came out which originally went to someone else’s table. After about 5 mins of them realising they made a mistake they took it off the table and gave it to us. By this point it had been on a different table and was now cold. We waited for another 45mins and still our plates hadn’t come out. Within this time frame we ordered a second round. All together we were sitting at Okami for 2 hours and a couple of plates from our first order still hadn’t turned up. Finally it came out (the sashimi platter) and it was dry and tasted like it had been sitting under the light for half an hour. Our aburi salmon was burnt but ice cold. Two of the platters were missing items off it. We ended up leaving still hungry after sitting there for around 2 hours while we still had stuff waiting to come out. We still love Okami but not sure if we will come back after...
