28/05 Further responses to the owner’s reply It's an extremely sad universe when an owner’s response comes to this. Your response is very disappointing and doesn’t resemble the behavior of someone who has been managing a restaurant for over a decade. It feels as though it is a response from someone who has never been in the hospitality industry. Throughout your response, you only defend your employees and never take a moment to reflect. There is no apology whatsoever.
Actually, I didn't even mention your scotch fillet at your place had a lot of tendons and was very chewy, hard to chew and quite tough on the teeth. I was hoping that your service would be better to make up for the poor food experience. However, I was surprised to find that your service you was even worse than the food.
On that day, we witnessed how the staff went around and filled up the water for all the customers. Once she had filled the glass on my left, she bypassed us and proceeded to fill the water for the customers on my right. After this happened several times, it became obvious that she treated customers differently. While she may have initially been responsible for taking orders etc, she then mainly focused on pouring water. If your restaurant has CCTV, I would encourage you to review the footage. She would go around with a water bottle and pour water at other tables, except ours. What could be the reason for this? Have you taken the time to reflect on this issue? I think you need let her see my comments, and tell her to well behave! Also it is ridiculous and rude to mention something like "destroys our younger, inexperienced not so confident staff." You even destroyed and ruined my birthday! As you have already acknowledged, she is an inexperienced employee, and it is because of this that customers had such a poor experience. This indicates a problem with the training of your staff. Yet, there is no remorse or apology on your part. Instead, you blame the customer. Shouldn't you be focusing on properly training your inexperienced staff rather than shifting the blame onto the customers? I would like to know how you perceive the hospitality industry. Do you believe that customers should accommodate poor service from your employees?
I will tell everyone I know, as well as on social media, that I will not recommend anyone to dine in at your restaurant.
27/05 original reply Outrageous As a tourist from another state, I visited the vibrant town of Bendigo on my birthday, seeking to enjoy its artistic and cultural atmosphere. . I had planned to celebrate by trying out a restaurant that I had heard had won awards for their steaks and supposedly offered decent service.
Unfortunately, I experienced a form of racial discrimination that left me disheartened. The white girl with light brown curls tied up in a ponytail, responsible for refilling water, completely ignored our table. We noticed her diligently refill water for every table except ours. It seemed like she deliberately skipped our table and went to the neighbouring tables. Despite my friend making eye contact with her, she continued to disregard us. It was disheartening to observe her refilling water for other customers, who happened to be white, while neglecting our table even though my glass was nearly empty. Each time I saw her approaching, I looked at her, but that person turned her head and stood by the water dispenser.
Having paid for a high-end restaurant, I had expected quality service, but instead, it ruined my mood and spoiled my birthday celebration. This was the first time I encountered such a combination of poor service and discrimination by this girl in all my years of living in Australia and visiting various cities. It is indeed disappointing and a disgrace to this city. Although the front desk manager promptly apologized, I felt the lack of sincerity as the girl never came to apologize herself.
I I believe that hospitality should never tolerate such service, and I sincerely hope that I never have to encounter such staff...

REVIEW: Loved my experience at the Woodhouse. Although it's 2 hours out from Melbourne, the drive is worth it to try this very acclaimed restaurant. I'm talking food that is jam packed full of flavour, very well presented and great service to match. A waiter who asks "is the food okay" once you've actually taken a couple of bites into your food so you can actually provide him with your thoughts 💯 💯.
Notably, I appreciated the lightly sour notes of the sourdough and that the puffed wagyu tendon was not oily. All delicious. For the great 800g ribeye main, we were in heaven. With a generous serve of mustard, this left my partner to choose 2 additional sauces that he wanted to pair his meat with. The sides all worked to complement the rib eye, while being flavourful enough to be eaten alone. Perfect battered onion rings with a flaky batter, that didn't leave your fingers greased up. Can see why it's a house specialty! Caesar salad so good that it's motivated me to try recreate it at home. It was a great refreshing way to cut through all the meatiness. Everything together and individually was pure magic.
We were unfortunately too full for dessert! But I've been informed that the dessert is NOT TO BE MISSED.
One thing I did not like was the amount of bugs flying...
