Got to the Cafe at 1pm. We volunteered our own check-in (staff did not ask) and was told to just pick a seat while she picked up some menus.. but did not come over with them for a few minutes. When she finally came over with the menus, she promptly asked if we knew what drinks we wanted.
After a quick look at the menus, we ordered 2 drinks (both bottled) and some tap water and 2 lunches... she came back with the water and one of the drinks.. then.. well.. nothing.
We stopped another wait staff to ask about the other drink.. and that came.. then.. again.. nothing.
Meanwhile 2 other parties that came after us got their food. So I stopped a third wait staff and asked to check on our food order, as it's been 30min since we ordered.
The first waitress FORGOT to place our order... and another came to offer a free drink each on the house.. the couple seated next to us applauded us for not up and leaving and also lamented about their rather pathetic offering of gluten free option of the crumbed fish/ chips with salad (they were both coeliacs). The Cafe only had one fryer so they could not get their chips.. the fish was Grilled as they don't have GF crumbed fish anyway.
Finally got our meals at 1:50pm.. nearly an hour after we were seated. presumably just before kitchen closed as they closed at 3pm. Food was actually decent.. pity about the (lack...
Read moreI am here most weekends and everything is generally really good. I came here with my son for breakfast on a Monday morning, there was a total of 5 other people in the cafe so not busy at all. The lady with the accent is always lovely and gives great service. We had the lady with burgundy coloured hair serve us, she was very unprofessional & didn’t ask me if I wanted a coffee or drink, she did not offer table water. I watched this lady walk up to the jar of marshmallows and grab one out with her hands and put it in her mouth. When my son’s drink came out I had to ask for a coffee. After waiting 20 minutes for food the lady came out and told us we couldn’t have poached eggs because they weren’t able to get the water hot enough to boil. (This is the first cafe I know of that cannot boil water) We were offered fried or scrambled eggs, otherwise we would be ‘waiting awhile for the poached.’ After patiently waiting an additional 10 minutes for the fried eggs to cook and food to come out, the food was very underwhelming. We were not offered any extra drinks either. Very unimpressed for a place I always recommend to others, as I come here most weekends and enjoy great food...
Read moreMy first time at Intermezzo was great. This time was rather poor. I ordered a burger which took over half an hour to arrive, with a small serve of lukewarm, undercooked French fries. The meat pattie was small - far smaller than the menu led me to believe - and since I make my own burgers with meat I've ground myself, I know the volume of meat I should be getting. The less-than-half-a-centimetre thin meat pattie in this case also had an edge that made it look as if it had been cooked in a form of some sort. I haven't seen this outside of cheap burger patties from a butcher or worse, the bargain brand burger patties from a supermarket. I have doubts about the burger containing Wagyu beef in any quantity, despite what was stated on the menu. The chocolate milk shake was very sweet and almost the colour of milk, so little flavouring had been added. And though I ordered a large milkshake, again it seemed undersized. As I said at the start of this review, poor. And not worth the effort of...
