Easily the best burger I've had in Perth since the V-Burger Bar in East Vic Park had it's original owners (many, many years ago now).
We attended yesterday, it was a cold & wet winters afternoon. There was only one other table of patrons being such a miserable night but credit to the staff they kept the place open & inviting. They didn't close up any doors or start to wind up like some places would.
While talking about the service all the staff were extremely polite, prompt, and a credit to management for hiring them.
However the real star of the show is the food, it is just outstanding. The burgers are gourmet a bit like V-Burger Bar, The Merrywell or Grill'd - only better. I was with a party of four, we all ordered a different burger and none of us wanted to share. I don't know what else to say without describing each burger we had but every one was delicious. It is rare for four people to get a different meal each at a restaurant they would describe as sensational, there's normally at least one that's average.
The sides were batting well above their weight too, the fries were great and the loaded fries (with added pulled pork) were absolutely awesome. Not just something slapped together as a filler they were an amazing meal just by themselves.
Price wise a burger is currently $12-$16, which is very competitive for what you're getting especially if you consider a McDonalds build-your-own gourmet burger costs well in excess of this now and is no where near the same league.
I think I've ranted enough you get the picture :-) It was just such a treat I wanted to post this review. I personally think if they maintain this level of quality and don't sell out (V-Burger Bar) I'll be a long-time patron. Last nights meal was so good I'd even go as far as saying if you're in the metro area it's worth the trip down. There is a wine bar next door for a pre-drink, there's a pizza parlor opening across the road, a pub not far and it's
Read moreI wanted this to be good so bad. I've been waiting all week to come here. Sadly it was a disappointment. Firstly, why do all these new places insist on serving food on little blocks of wood or tiny ceramic trays? Why? It's not fancy, it's impractical. Just give me a plate. First thing that happened was the top half of my burger slid off the tiny ceramic platter onto the table without me even touching it . That would never happen on a plate. Secondly, I took a bite into my 8 Napkins burger. Crunch. Yes there was sand in the lettuce. Few bites later I had to remove the lettuce it was that bad. Third, the chips were soggy. I will say however, the burger patty tasted great and the bun was decent. The service was also good. This could actually be a good burger joint if they got all the small things right. A burger is a sum of all its parts. You can't have a good burger unless every part is spot on. One mistake will ruin the whole burger, just like the sand did for me. Hopefully being new they will quickly learn from this and fix things as there's not enough good local burger...
Read moreReally disappointed as I was looking forward to coming after reading such good reviews. I was excited to see a "Go Naked" option where they could substitute the bun for a lettuce cup so I was quite surprised when my burger patty arrived in a bowl on a bed of rocket with no lettuce cup at all. I mentioned it to our waitress who was quite apologetic and explained that there had been teething issues and some confusion with the menu but that she could go back, request the lettuce cup and add the mayo that they had forgotten I had asked for. When she returned I was surprised again to find they had just heaped shredded lettuce and mayo to the top of the bowl. I then attempted with difficulty to eat it out of the bowl with a knife and fork. To my dismay the lettuce was full of sand so I had to remove it. The patty, caramelised onion, tomato and cheese combo was actually delicious and milkshake was nice. I hope they get their consistency sorted out quickly as i would like to come back based on the tastiness...
