Recommended to try this place and caught an Uber there. Dropped off out the front of what looked like the other industrial yards in the area. We thought we'd come to the wrong place. Absolutely NOTHING visually to indicate its a brewery except for a small sign out the front drive entrance. Gingerly walked in and was greeted by lady who gestured which way to go. Walked up to the 'beer garden'. Admittedly its winter now and they may of taken furniture away, but there were a few seats around. If you want to sit outside a shed on some tatty looking furniture in an industrial yard and look at other industrial 'stuff' around, this is your place. Absolutely nothing appealing about it at all. We went inside the 'shed' and liked how small and intimate it was. Friendly, welcoming staff too. Furniture dated and mismatched except for barstools, but they may of intended it to look 'quirky'. Just looked like second hand furniture thrown in purely for serving a purpose. Some great decor around the walls though and a fireplace inside. The bar area is large and looks great. Great selection of craft beers at around the $13.00 a pint mark. They have a BYO wine option which I appreciated but on their FB page, its advertised as $5.00 corkage. When we got there, I was charged $8.00. No biggie, they just need to make sure they keep their media sites updated. It was lunchtime and we were hungry so decided to order a pizza. We werent aware they didnt make their own and that it was 'sourced locally' until I later checked their website stating this. Im 99% certain that 'local source' was SPUDSHED. Simply because I buy pizzas from there and add my own extra ingredients to them. Their pizza had exactly the same ingredients and 'layout' as the pizzas I buy. It was the most tasteless pizza Ive ever eaten. They added nothing to it and charged us $20 for it. We ate it though because we were hungry and didnt want to drink on an empty stomach. We werent offered individual plates, just serviettes to catch the food falling on the table. We ate, hubby had a couple of pints of the pilsner they make and enjoyed them, but we just did not want to stay any longer so, caught a uber back to our local. As it is right now, I would not be recommending this place to anyone, or be returning ourselves. We have quite a few breweries around the Peel region with comparible prices, a decent menu and lovely ambience for this business to compete with. I wish them all the very best for the future and hope they make some changes in order to attract more people. If thats what they want of course. If they are happy and have a loyal clientele already? Good on them. Im shocked they have such a high rating on google and facebook though! Very...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing place. Went for the first time today and it's easily one of the best bars I have ever had the pleasure of drinking at. They were so accomodating; they turned on the lights in the pool room for us, they lowered the lamp to make it easier for us to play without us asking, and they hooked up a fan for us when it stayed a bit too hot. The even offered us bug spray later in the afternoon when we were outside getting bitten. The people running it are super easy to talk to as well. I was worried I'd feel out of place showing up to a family-owned bar I'd never been to before, but they really seemed to care about us the whole time we were there. The beer is amazing. They offer a flavorful variety of brews but none of them are over-the-top/trying-too-hard like you would find at a festival. My favourite part of the night was when I told the lovely lady at the bar that my friend couldn't have another (as he was driving me home) and she offered us a taste of their 0% "hops juice?" which was absolutely delectable with the dash of ginger ale she recommended. All around wonderful experience. Pictures don't do it justice either. It isn't some pop-up conservative tavern in the middle of a smoggy idustrial area. The view of the sky outisde is unobstructed so you're not staring at any depressing sheet metal strutures. You can enjoy your drink under the fairy lights that make it feel much more like a rural beer garden than any other street-corner dive bars you migh find in the area... and yet it still remains the humble, locally-owned bar it's intended to be. How do they do it!? Overall great location, great beer, great people. Everybody in the greater region MUST give this place a try as not to miss out on one of the best hidden gems South of Perth.
(P.S. from one skeptic critic to another; we were never once asked or pressured to leave a review. I am simply a satisfied customer who left with a warm goodbye and an invitation back – which I'd be a fool...
