As a family and group of families we went to the aquarium with intention to eat at the cafe after for lunch. Nope. We compromised with overpriced bottled drinks on an incredibly hot day.
Sadly - a lost opportunity with a captive audience of families, friend groups, and tourists hungry at the end of their time at the aquarium.
Overview: Ok atmosphere and service. Outdated 90s menu. Price point ok on food items. Too high on drinks. Otherwise nothing special.
Food: Cheap and quick ‘kiosk-type’ pre-made processed foods, burgers and chips, basic sandwiches, wraps, and bottled drinks. Few ‘vegetarian’ options. We didn’t find any of the options all that appetising based on what we could see already ordered on tables.
Service: Young quick staff. Likely on holiday break from school. Attentive and courteous.
Atmosphere pros and cons: Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor attached to AQWA. Kind staff. Clean space, easy to locate. Near multiple toilets. Accessible for the most part from aquarium areas. But easily crowded and difficult to navigate if you have any accessibility needs like a wheelchair, walker, cane… etc.
If you are looking for a unique food, fresh foods, or special memory to add to your time at the aquarium, I suggest bringing a picnic or going to Hillary’s Boat Harbor across the parking lot.
Otherwise you are better off waiting till...
Read moreI could not have had a better experience at this cafe. I came in with my three kids and as all you mums know that is a handful. There was a young, short blonde girl working that day. I wish I had of grabbed her name. She was so friendly to my kids and was patient with me while I tried to calm my screaming toddler and order food for my hungry 4 and 6 year olds. She made life so much easier for me. The service was quick and the food was delicious. My kids are always fussy but they ate everything. What could have been a very stressful moment for me was made so much better by the lovely staff and the quick service. 5 stars...
Read moreThis cafe earns my 5 star due to their attention to detail with cleanliness for relatively crowded venue with a lot of children and tourist coming through. Staff are seen vacuuming, cleaning and wiping down even the baby chair (this is quite a rare site to us). This cafe certainly sets a good standard to what tourist attraction F&B venues should strive for.
We ordered the fish & chips for $17.90 and found the portion to be generous and taste pretty good. Value for money.
We were initially looking out for food venues and cafes nearby but happy to just relax at this cafe without needed to travel back and...
