It's Kalgoorlie. You don't expect much. Was very happy with old and Classic location. A little worn in, but beautiful. Staff appropriate and courteous. Beautiful space upstairs and classic balcony.
Food was far superior to any other dining experience in Kal. The buzz and vibe from kitchen was top end.
Superb oysters, my favourite deep fried cheese entree, duck with beautiful plum ginger sauce, silky and not over powered.
A brilliant end to a awful work week.
Need good food at believable prices and feel like you got outstanding value for money ?? Don't go anywhere else. Actually cheaper than less desirable fare elsewhere.
The best Thursday night out I've had in years. Thankyou so much.
Head chef obviously runs a pretty competent crew. It shows...
I'll definitely be back in a few months.
Back again twice since original review. Still amazing food. Best place in Kalgoorlie. Chefs are very talented. Will not disappoint. My favourite restaurant in Australia, and don't take...
Read moreI’m usually pretty lenient but every single time I’ve eaten here we’ve had to wait ages to order, ages to receive drinks, ages to receive food then almost never had a waiter ask if we wanted another round of drinks. Tonight we went for a bday dins; 7 of us arrived at 7pm booking - 7.40 rolled around and not one waiter had asked to take a drinks order or food order. They did pass by asking to take our menus off us. We mentioned we hadn’t ordered yet but they didn’t seem to care. I get everywhere is understaffed but every single other restaurant in Kalgoorlie has such good quick service. For such a high price it’s not justifiable the lack of service. I got palace trio which comes w pork belly (usually crispy) and this time the skin was the absolute FURTHEST thing from crispy, they didn’t even try crisp it up.
Ps. This isn’t to fault the wait staff, they’re always friendly and trying their best but I feel like it’s either an understaffing issue/bad...
Read moreIt is the nicest restaurant in Kalgoorlie and the food is nice...but its not spectacular. Its not fine dining but an upmarket pub feed. The share platter is a good choice with a broad selection. Wine selection is the best you'll get around here.
Big menu and lots of choice but it really is just basics and I don't remember it ever having been any different in the 30 yrs I've lived here.
Portions are well sized but so is everywhere here.
The wait staff were too attentive. Annoying really. Having 3 seperate people trying to take orders in the space of a couple of minutes made us feel pressured and rushed yet there were a dozen people in. There was no rush. There is a big difference between a Devil's Lair SSB, which was ordered, and the shiraz I got. Oh well, I am happy to drink it and didnt say anything because, frankly we didn't want to give them reason to keep coming back. Small price to pay for a...
