Ahhhh, Brewvino, you were my greatest hope in Mandurah and let me down when I needed you the most! The first time was sensational when we stayed within the easy favourites to produce. Selection of oysters, chilli muscles, and pickled Octopus. Couldn't fault the food, atmosphere or service...but then came our second visit with hopes of a similar experience... For two weeks since our first visit, my partner and I couldn't wait to experience the 800gr steak, chilli muscles, pickled occy, oysters, truffle mash, broccolini, and pumpkin meal for two....unfortunately we probably should have stuck with the basics again. After being seated in a fantastic table overlooking the water, we ordered the meal we had been salivating over since our last visit. We also ordered a nice bottle of red to go with the meal....the stage was set, the vibe was chilled, the rest was up to Brewvino to put it all together. Because a $200 meal for two should be pretty good under any circumstance. Unfortunately from this point on Brewvino dropped the ball. We opened the wine and poured a glass each to breathe before the food arrived. Vibe was good, setting was perfect and then our food rolled in. 800gr steak requested medium rare...unfortunately it was medium rare/freezing cold, to which my partner and I both commented to each other that the butter wouldn't even melt on the steak if we rubbed it on each piece. I thought surely the pumpkin would hold some heat, so I cut a large piece open and again cold. How about the truffle mash?...cold. OK well we've got chilli muscles...ffs cold again. At this point we fought over the two oysters and pickled occy. Now we both love good food and are quite understanding of restaurants having a bad night, so we were reluctant to complain too much in a public way that other clientele can hear. We came to the decision that I approach the duty manager and ask him to come to our table in regards to the food temp issue. This is where it went wrong for Brewvino. The duty manager came to the table and understood our issue. He suggested he will take the food back to the chef and get it reheated. We said no thanks. He then proceeded to take the food away. We had eaten less than a few strips of steak and apart from two oysters.. not much else. I said to the duty manager that rather than discussing the issue in front of other punters, to just give me a call the next day to figure out compensation for the food presented...that my 17yr old son could achieve... and he's an apprentice mechanic! The next day I received a call from the duty manager saying that the owners were only willing to refund half the cost of the meal because we ate half! To be totally honest if we ate half we wouldn't have left hungry...it's a big meal. We literally ate 1/10 of the meal. The duty manager apologised and said he understood but he's a middle man. I asked for an owner to call to discuss. This was 5 days ago and still no call. This leaves me here now, writing a bad review because of something that should have been an easy fix. Unfortunately a cold $170 meal for two is insignificant when poorly delivered to a couple that tried to be low key with their complaint because they respect the premises. It now seems that the owners don't respect the clientele like the clientele respect the premises reputation. Will we be back?...maybe one day. Will we be disappointed again?...hopefully not!
Brewvino you still have my number and the ability to make this review go away if you resolve this professionally.
In all of this I must give Kate, who is possibly a manager, big credit. She is probably one person that keeps Brewvino on track....
Read moreWhat's happened to Brewvino? Not a fan of leaving negative reviews but when a dining "experience" is so subpar, one feels somewhat obligated to share the feedback. As locals - we've had many an excellent experience at the former restaurant that was Brewvino. A special occasion this evening, we booked online, secured our reservation with a preauthorisation of our credit card. All fine as is expected these days for a good dining experience and a nice table. What we experienced was so the latter. Let's start by saying, management should really update the website so that diners don't expect one thing, and receive the polar opposite. "top quality table service and the best offerings from our head Chef" (quoted from the website). Gone are the days of friendly, informative table service. Now there is NO SERVICE whatsoever. There's no staggering pricey entrees and mains to arrive as two courses either. Now it's cutlery buckets on the table (unhygienic) and QR codes for phone ordering. One needs psychic abilities to determine the fish of the day and its cost, as no chance in getting one of the many FOH staff members to inform you - all were instead hanging behind the bar - not one serving dining patrons. All staff also need some clean pants - or an apron. Management included.
Partner ordered an entree to share and two mains. In true disorderly fashion, the entree was served to the table before my drink could be served. And then the two mains were served only moments after the entree hit the table. What type of dining experience has this become? It lays question to how "fresh" the food really is when it is served at "microwave-speeds". A 30 minute dinner dining "experience". Brewvino is now serving up a fast food experience, yet charging diners a premium. So lack lustre. Hubby would have spent so much more if the experience had matched previous occasions, and someone would offer us a drink or dessert - anything really. However, it appears we now have to find a new restaurant to take our money. Such a miss, and a...
Read moreCame here for my friends birthday. I was sooooo disappointed. Food was just ok but not worth the price. OMG the customer service was horrible. The manager of the staff was extremely rude soon as we walked in. She was very racist and looked at us with disgust. We were trying to ask if they had a candle for the cake we bought as we forgot it in the car and it was raining. She cut my friend off and told her to "calm down, she was going to ask us when we wanted the cake." We were appalled my friend asked politely and the manager was rude (short lady of Asian descent). Then the food took forever to come out even though we ordered before other tables. There was confusion about what we ordered, when the manager came over to ask us if we are eating because of the alcoholic drinks. We already had the pizza come out and she could see that. No one was drunk or roudy, she was trying to insinuate something a waitress called out from the bar, they ordered steak which indicated they didn't even start to cook our food. Everyone was absolutely starving and one of the other waitresses came to tell us sorry about the wait time. The manager didn't see concerned or offer an apology. She was concerned with the cake and what time we were having it. Trying to push us out the door. This is the most disgusting service and attitude I ever dealt with. I am a foodie and try many places in Perth yet this is one of the worst establishment I ever had the displeasure...
