LMy partner and I were able to enjoy a lovely dinner out at The Peninsula restaurant Thurs 16th Jan 2025. As we walked in we were welcomed by Bob, a handsome man with an astonishing smile, who lead us to our table in a nice lil corner with the beautiful evening view reflecting off the water nearby.
Introduced to our waitress for the night, Bella, we were offered some water for the table and both drink and restaurant menus to browse through. After ordering some drinks to start with and a carry away of chatting, we decided to start our dinner off with a serve of Seared Shark Bay Scallops each, the Local Buratta, La Boqueria Chorizo and Hummus & Flatbread. As the waitress brought out each dish, every item looked absolutely amazing!!! My personal favorite was the Burrata Cam, the evening manager, came around later during the course to check how our night was going and our thoughts on the food. Our night was going fantastic. Bella had been a sweet lovely waitress, assisting us in any needs possible, keeping everything prestigious and the kitchen had created and presented a deep satisfaction not only to the eye but also a mouthwatering combination of different elements. Though this was just the entrée. And my eyes were bigger than my stomach.
All dishes were cleared and reset for mains. With another round of drinks all prepared, out came the Patatas Bravas, Charred Corn and the 600gm Braised Lamb Shoulder. We had started with so much, we totally forgot there was more to come!!! With crispy Patatas, soft tender Lamb, and juicy flavorsome Corn, we submitted to a defeat, barely able to finish.
Our waitress kindly packed our foods away, potential midnight snacks, and surprised us with dessert. My partner had just flown into town, so ending the night on a limited special dessert, Caramel Parfait created by Chef Julie was a true delight. Thank you for a...
Read moreI’ve been here many times before with absolutely no complaints but today was a different story. I finished work and came in to meet my husband and mother in law who is visiting from England. There were lots of reserved tables outside with one sign per table. One area outside also had a rope only partially across as well as a reserved sign on ONE table.
Seeing other people seated in that area already and, in an effort to find somewhere to have lunch away from the loud drunk group of people in the bar, I (wrongly) assumed the reservation was for that one table only and went and sat down.
Rather soon after, a member of bar staff came over, and, in an officious and inhospitable tone, told me that the whole area was reserved. He even gestured to the rope and sign and said something to the effect of “can’t you read? That’s why it’s cordoned off”.
I told him I here was no need to speak to me like I’m stupid or that I’m deliberately “flouting the rules” - it was a simple mistake and that it was unclear to me as to which table/s were reserved and that there was no need to speak to me like I’m stupid.
It begs the question - would he have spoken to my ageing mother in law like that? An apologetic or more courteous approach would probably have been taken.
I’ve worked in hotels and hospitality in a previous career and, even when you are stressed , there is no excuse rudeness nor unprofessionalism, especially in an establishment such as the Peninsular. Save the attitude for the drunks in a nightclub and show some respect for patrons.
We left promptly and ate at The Stage Door where we received a notably different level of service which I CAN...

I called and spoke with a lady named Mel (can’t recall exactly if this is her name - just from what I can remember as she was incredibly rude) today at approximately 1:43pm, who was incredibly uncooperative and rude regarding my queries to have my event at your restaurant.
As a customer who was willing to provide around $4,000 in funds to host my reception there, I feel that your “customer service assistant” must want to be fired from her job.
I asked her to clarify the minimum spend requirements as she provided incorrect information initially and when I asked her to confirm that the minimum spend for the 5pm session was $1,000, she groaned like a 10 year old and didn’t answer. I then said “sorry?” Because I was so shocked that a supposed “ambassador” for your restaurant was acting this way! What a great way to deter potential customers!! The call only lasted for a total of 4 minutes as I just felt so disgusted and hung up. In no way would I ever give my money to a restaurant where they treat people this way.
Please take on my feedback as a lost customer. This individual may have already lost potential revenue for your business with other customers due to her severely disgusting attitude in speaking to customers. Even 5 year olds have better manners and patience than that. And to think that she gets paid for a job where she treats customers this way…… is absolutely shocking.
I will now be spending my...
