Disappointing & Uncomfortable Experience: Cash Refused with a Bizarre Excuse
I am writing to share an extremely disappointing experience at the Domino's Belmont location in the early hours of July 13, 2025. When I attempted to pay for my delivery order to airbnb with cash, I was refused service by a male staff member who identified himself as "Michelle." The reason he gave was utterly nonsensical: he claimed that because my name and address had no prior order history in their system, he could not accept my cash payment. This is demonstrably false. I have been a frequent Domino's customer for years, particularly at the North Strathfield store in Sydney, where I have paid with cash for over 80% of my orders without any issue.
What was most troubling was the dismissive manner in which I was treated. As a person with a distinctly Asian name, I was left feeling deeply uncomfortable and questioning whether I was being profiled and discriminated against. This store's practice not only contradicts Domino's own official policy, which explicitly allows for cash payments in-store, but it also flies in the face of the company's stated values of inclusion and non-discrimination.
I saw no clear signage indicating a "cashless" policy. A customer should not be denied service based on a fabricated rule. I strongly urge management to investigate this incident, address the potential discrimination, and ensure their store policies align with both Australian consumer expectations and Domino's own corporate standards.
A very poor reflection...
Read moreSo my friend and I was trying to place delivery order from this shop nut later raise serious questions about their service standards and staff conduct.
00:14 AM: My friend placed a delivery order via the website (Order #114fa59c-1d32-4ea5-b70a-02f33c011f13), selecting cash payment.
00:16 AM: The store called and cancelled, with a male employee named "Michelle" claiming they don't accept cash from "new" customers.
00:24 AM: To solve this, my friend used the app to re-order using my established account (Order #3eccefe0-5f3c-11f0-a054-e99f0ac56c14)
00:26 AM: He called the store again. The same employee refused the order again, but this time his excuse changed to "we're closing soon," delivered with a completely indifferent attitude.
The fact that the employee invented two different, contradictory excuses suggests that neither was the real reason. As a person with a distinctly Asian name, I was left to wonder what the true motivation was. This experience left me feeling profiled and discriminated against, which is completely unacceptable.
This is not just poor service; it's a potential violation of Domino's own core values of non-discrimination. Management must investigate the conduct at this store to ensure all customers are treated with respect, regardless of...
