Lebanese high tea - an enjoyable experience, with good food, lovely atmosphere and attentive staff but with room for improvement.
Was not aware when booking that not everything on the high tea menu will be served. After speaking to Maroosh, came to understand that the items served depends on what the chef makes for the day, with only a small portion of the chef's repertoire listed on the high tea menu. Portions were acceptable and food was lovely, though variety was less than expected .We really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant and the staff were very attentive, so that lessened the disappointment. What was served at my high tea was a mix of savouries and sweets, some with a slight middle eastern twist. Folks thinking to try the high tea, take note that you can actually specify when booking if you want more savouries or more sweets for your high tea.
I wish there was more of the hallmarks of Lebanese/Syrian cuisine displayed in the high tea I experienced at Maroosh. I understand from speaking to Maroosh that they are still tweaking the high tea based on customers' feedback. My feedback is to stay true to your original purpose and not lose your point of differentiation. I chose to experience your high tea as it was advertised as a Lebanese high tea, not just the usual 'English' high tea, but Lebanese high tea, with the promise of something different, unique, new for my group. If there is demand for more traditional 'English' high tea items perhaps consider offering English high tea and Lebanese high tea options.
Other notable mentions - take the bar code stickers off the water bottles you use (we noticed them), train your staff to know which teas can be served cold or hot, the hummus was DELICIOUS and we loved that the baba ganoush had chunky pieces of eggplants and capsicum in them. All the best till we meet...
Read morePathetic food and false allegations.
Today I had my last visit to this restaurant which I had been visiting since 2019 when they first opened.
I ordered 3 x Farooj Mashwi in advance and was informed by the owner that it will be available. When the food was served, I was handed over 3 x small chicken leg pieces and not the half chicken. It was not marinated and had a pathetic taste.
When the staff served the food, I asked her the reason and she was informed from the owner that today they only had these leg pieces so they served what they had.
Then another junior staff who took the order was misbehaving while taking the order. I had to clarify the order 3 times.
The owner knowing the food was pathetic didn't even bother to come to the table to ask about our food and experience.
At the check out the junior staff who took the order put a false allegation on my daughter that she tore the table cloth and asked the waitress to wait and add $25 just to take revenge of the conversation during the order.
He took me to the table and lifted up a plate and showed me the ripped table cloth. I asked him to show me the cameras. He couldn't!
The waitress confirmed that the table cloth was torn before.
Shameless and pathetic attitude of the owner and his junior staff.
I paid $205 and was anxiously waiting to just leave this restaurant and never go back ever again !
I went there with my wife, children and in laws who are our guests and they left with a distasteful experience.
I was planning to book Ramadan Aftaar for friends and family but deleting this restaurant from my list...
Read moreIt was my Son’s Birthday and he wished for Middle Eastern food. I searched for many Middle Eastern and Lebanese restaurants with more of the vegetarian 🌱 options and at last I found Maroosh with good options. When we reached there It was beyond our expectations as the ambiance was decked up very beautifully with lovely Middle Eastern music the and had ample of sitting space. The view of the backside was beautiful river front. Staff were warm and welcoming, and the owner Mr. Safwan was very accommodating and took care of all we requested. In fact, he also mentioned that he can customise the vegetarian menu for us. But by the time we were very full having all the cold and hot Mazze We were 10 people and we ordered almost all of the Items from the Mazze ( appetisers) they were all vegetarian and tasted fresh and delicious. The portion size was generous enough. We ordered Falafel, Hummus, Spicy Cauliflower, Spicy Potato, Cheese Samosa, Stuffed vine leaves, motabal, baba ghanaush we also ordered Vegetarian dish for our mains. For desert we had Knafeh Shredded kataifi (vermicelli) pastry filled with mozzarella cheese, topped with sugar syrup and pistachio nuts. I would highly recommend this place for your any event or family dinner and for...
