Pepper Lunch is one of my favourite family restaurants. The best outlet is at Mt Lawley...however, that closed in late 2018 (probably due to the high rent in that area). This outlet is also good, but parking in Victoria Park can be a problem at times. I also feel that this store is not as well maintained compared to the store in Southlands Shopping Centre. The plus side for this store is that it’s quite large and can seat larger groups. The Pepper Lunch stores always offer free filtered cold and hot water, so that is nice. Besides their signature pepper beef rice, I also think that their chips are very good...just wished that they would offer tomato or siracha or Japanese mayo to go with it (the other stores offer these sauces for free)

The curry was tasty and you can get them in different spiciness- mild, spicy and devil spicy. They have a variety of offering from chicken katsu, beef, hamburger, wagyu and others. There's a salad, chips, miso and other sides on offer. A section of Pokka tea drinks, water and other drinks. Seating inside and some seating facing the road viewing through open windows. It can get busy at times, but at the times visited it was quite. A great spot to feed your Japanese curry cravings.

Really really regret to have dinner here. Totally a scam. The food in the photo is big difference whit real food when you got. The photo has a lot of meat. When they bring the food to your face, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought they sent me wrong food. The meat looks so poor in the plate. Only few pieces. You can see in my photo. Will never come back next time.

Was greeted politely when we walked in! Waitress gestured us to a table and even cleaned it again for us before we sat down!

Husband went to the counter for the menus and came back with 2 black A4 display books that has seen way better days!

We went to the counter to place our orders but the waitress was busy with scooping rice into bowls (which was not for any customers inside the restaurant - as all customers there had already gotten their food).

We received zero acknowledgement while we waited for her to finish rice scooping and yes she did see us standing at the counter holding the menus!

When she finally came over to the counter (about 2 mins later), a machine started beeping non-stop! She tried to fix it and it didn't work so she told my husband and I to go back to our table and she will call us over when she's ready to take our orders.

We obliged and went back to our table. In the next 10-15 mins while we waited, we saw her try to fix the beeping machine (asking the kitchen staff for help in frustration), handed a plastic container to a customer, farewell 2 groups of customers, took away dirty dishes, clean tables, greeted and welcomed 2 new group of customers and went back to rice scooping again for no one!

By this time, 5 other people had arrived and looked through their menus. They headed to the counter, got greeted by the waitress and asked "how can I help you?" and got to place their orders while we sat at our tables like idiots, still waiting to get call over to place our orders!

I understand that there are staff shortages blah blah blah... BUT when we arrived, we were the ONLY customers there that hasn't ordered. The next 5 customers arrived 15 mins after we did and they didn't get turned away at the counter like we did.

Since we've already wasted 20 mins of our time just waiting to place our orders, we did not want to wait even longer for 5 other people's food orders to arrive and so we voted with our feet and left!

In all fairness, when my husband mentioned this to the waitress when he returned the menus, she did attempt a half hearted apology but it was too little too late!

Will never return to this branch as there are literally heap of restaurants in the area. Their loss is another restaurant's gain!

Daughter was very sad as she was looking forward to eat there but instead we went to Himalayan Nepalese Restaurant around the corner and received exceptional customer service and far...

Me and my friends went here today and we were provided with sauce but the sauce was expired (as when we told the staff about the sauce, we saw that the other sauces were a different colour from ours). We smelled it, tasted it and it was spoiled, then the staff offered us a replacement. However, they told us to pay for it again. We talked to the manager but the manager kept telling us “it was your fault for putting too much sauce in the food”, but they were the ones that gave us that sauce. We tasted the sauce itself and it was off. We usually go to the one in the city so we know if its expired or not. The manager threatened us about going to court and saying they have the cctv footage of my friend pouring too much sauce, but he avoided the issue of the sauce itself being off and bad ( he kept going on about the ingredients being fresh from Japan but when you don't replace old sauce, it doesn’t magically turn fresh) . The footage should have the part where we smelled the sauce, tasted it and the part where the staff admitted that the sauce hasn’t been used in awhile. The manager wasn’t even on site and only looked at the footage, then blamed us when we asked for a refund because they offered us a new dish but it was of lesser value of the dish my friend paid for(he also said it was an act of good faith :/ ). The staff also told us we needed to shake the sauce for it to be good but when something is expired it doesn’t go unexpired just because we shake it and it will change colours. One of the staff also admitted that the sauce “hasn’t been used in awhile” when we told them about the sauce being off. Providing customers with spoiled sauce is breaking the food safety regulations. It was a horrible experience :(( three of us didn’t touch/use the sauce, the other two used the sauce and they didn’t finish their food. Are you alright there? And the sauce bottles given to us were half empty. Mhm yes customers always...

I never write any comments of restaurants but went here at lunch time and wasn't happy with services. It wasn't busy at all. None of table was filled up, but the waiter was so rude and do nothing. she didn't lead to the table or something, just standing in the counter. Ok. We found table and sit, she just stand in the counter while we sit down, and pick the menu on her hand and said 'do you need menu?'

?????

Of course we need. Not even bring it, pick up and take it up looks let us pick the menu. That was fine. I stand up and bring it. It wasn't any problem with this at all but bit unsatisfied. Fine.

But after we order food and come out, she throw the hot plate to the table. It is 160°c hot plate as they said. It was so dangerous that she put the plate in the table the plate slide 30cm long like fken OLYMPIC CURLING!! To FRONT OF ME! if it was bit more stronger, my leg would be sizzling with 160°c. After that, I can't enjoy anything, just saw her what she doing. If she was busy, I understand. But she was doing origami with tissue for 20mins!! Haha what a joke. Never come up again in this restaurant. Now I know why this restaurant is empty compare with other restaurants in vicpark. Need more training staff and looks need change the staff. 1 star is too much already 😫 The basic things? Such as receipt, tap water, cup???? Hahaha no COMMENTS. Go and feel. Ps. When you see the glass weared waitress is...
