Quite the experience this place. After being seated, I noticed the table hadn't been cleaned, as a sticky sauce had adhered to my hands and jacket. After asking for a wet cloth to clean up, I was advised they could not give me one, but I could use the the toilets. OK. So I stand up and am given directions to another location outside the restaurant. I pass, walk up to reception, grab one of their special cloths they can't give to customers, and do it myself. The tiny salads included a slice of super hot chilli, which, though I'm used to hot food, was a complete and unwelcome surprise. Glad I caught it before my dining partner, who does not like hot food, discovered it for herself. The food was utterly average, the Pad Thai oily, unseasoned and sloppy, only a small amount of meat, which was tough and dry. The stir-fry full of broccoli stalks and not much main ingredient. Entree plates were not removed by the waitress, and they remained for the rest of the meal. Cafeteria food at best, better value...
Read moreMy family has been coming here for years . For the first time I ordered take away this evening and had my son pick up the order . To my horror when he returned he told me that we were charged $33 for 2 dishes . I checked a menu online before ordering , the cost according to the menu was $25 .The menu was posted only a few weeks ago . My son then told me we payed the Uber eats price which is inflated by 30% . I rang the restaurant and inquired as to why I was charged this price . I explained to the person that at that price I could have had it delivered . Her response was , " you could have " . I have been involved in the restaurant industry for over 30 years and know how take away works . There needs to be some transparency by the owner in regard to pricing and delivery fees. I could have had the order delivered by the establishment for the same price . Driving from Como is not around the corner .DISAPPOINTED ! The meals...
Read moreI cannot express how utterly appalled I am with Red Basil Thai. I’ve been eating clean for weeks, staying disciplined, and I finally decided to treat myself to some takeout. I ordered a fish green curry, expecting a wholesome, authentic Thai meal. What did I get? A vegetable green curry with a pile of battered fish dumped on the side.
First of all, battered fish? Are you kidding me? That’s not Thai food; that’s greasy pub food. Did they actually think I’d ruin my curry by tossing soggy, oil-soaked batter into it? The idea alone is revolting. This isn’t "fusion"—it’s a slap in the face to anyone who knows or respects Thai cuisine.
I feel cheated, disappointed, and honestly disgusted. This was my first takeout in ages, and it was supposed to be a treat. Instead, it was an absolute disaster that ruined my lunch. If you can’t even understand your own menu, maybe don’t bother offering Thai food at all....
