Poor Customer service and lack of accountability. Disappointing Experience with Sizzle N Sambar - Half-Empty Biriyani and Terrible Customer Service: We ordered one chicken biriyani and one vegetarian biriyani from Sizzle N Sambar, Nedlands. While the chicken biriyani was container full, the vegetarian biriyani was half-empty. I took a picture of the half-empty container and sent it to the restaurant, but no one responded. After waiting all day, I called to complain.
I spoke with a representative named Adi, who was polite but unhelpful. He said he’d check with the owner, and when I requested a $20 refund or replacement, he offered no immediate solution. Later, Gowri who introduced herself as the owner of the restaurant, called and claimed the biriyani must have been "stolen by the Uber Eats driver," completely contradicting what Adi had said. She insisted I take the issue up with Uber Eats, despite the package being intact upon delivery. Gowri also mentioned that "several orders this week" had been stolen by Uber Eats drivers, which seemed like a baseless excuse to avoid responsibility.
When I expressed how unfair this situation was and mentioned we had no choice but to write a review, Gowri dismissively said, "Go ahead if that makes you feel good." This complete lack of accountability and customer care is inexcusable. The issue clearly stemmed from the restaurant’s packaging, yet they refused to take responsibility or offer any resolution. I’ve lost all trust in Sizzle N Sambar, and I now believe they’re making false accusations against Uber Eats drivers without any proof.
For the sake of other customers, I would recommend avoiding this restaurant. Their customer service is appalling, and they refuse to take responsibility for their mistakes. Very disappointing experience—I won’t be ordering...
Read moreSorry I’ve been trying to update my first review since I think I didn’t do this place justice. My wife discovered this little place, and the food is GOOD!!! The service is GOOD!!! The manager and owner is AMAZING. I’m not Indian, I’m Italian as the name is a giveaway so I am no expert in Indian food, but I am a well seasoned chef with 21 years under my belt, worked in both pubs and fine dining fairly famous restaurants too in Perth… I can tell you that the food is fresh, the meats aren’t frozen, the flavours are very well balanced, and I like sipcy, like REALLY spicy and I find the heat level is very nice and the wait is very very reasonable and the prices are EXTREMELY REASONABLE in today’s economy tonight there were 5 adults and 1 child and roughly we spent $44 per head not counting the child, that is 5 mains, 6 sides, 4 drinks and 6 desserts, my daughter had the desert and drinks, so yes the quality for the money is really good considering we also manage to have some takeaway. I feel horrible for them after reading some of the 1 star reviews made on here, as a chef, as a person of the industry I cannot emphasise how hard it is to provide good quality food, especially ethnic food outside the country of origins, especially to people who don’t cook on a commercial scale, and have very little understanding of what running a restaurant and kitchen is like. I absolutely love this place, it is probably one of my favourite restaurants, and tonight the young lady running the place was very friendly. So my reviews stays the same, my defensive rant is over. Please try this place. Great tasting food, clean environment and very friendly and...
Read moreA bit of a mixed feelings about this place.
Things ordered - Veg dhal, gobi masala, iddiapam, garlic naan, veg briyani, and masala chai (refunded).
Food taste - dhal, gobi masala, idiappam, and garlic naan are great. Dhal was basic and gobi masala was well seasoned, and potatoes cooked to perfection. Idiappam is also soft and nice. The naan was the star, crispy and soft at the same time. We'd go back for the naan again.
BUT the veg briyani was a disappointment. It's definitely microwaved and unevenly microwaved (probably an old microwave). There were 3 temperatures to it, hot, warm, and cold. It's so obvious it's been microwaved. If they want to microwave it, at least do a good job at making it hot completely.
Service - On the surface, the staff seems nice. But don't be fooled. Make sure to check your order and ask for a receipt. The initial orders were not repeated to us properly. Masala Chai was not served even after I've asked the staff, one lady, and one male for them. When coming to Bill time, I said again to cancel Chai since it wasn't served. Guess what? My receipt has the chai! 🤣 it was as if they are not able to remember what you ordered or said 2 minutes ago. There were lots of posters of customer behaviour warning in the restaurant. That gives you an indication of the attitude of this place. I was lucky because I asked for my refund for the chai straight away and got it. Some others in the reviews weren't so lucky.
Atmosphere - The place is quite nicely decorated. Comfy and not too cold. A bit loud but I don't really mind it.
Would I come back again? For the naan yes and if they remember to...
