Beautiful atmosphere and music. The staff were friendly and very professional. Though I had to wait for some time for my last order to the point that we wanted to cancel it and just get the bill. Understandable it got busier at the time so that wasn't their fault at all.
The food was disappointing, considering the price. $52 for a 250g black angus sirloin and a parsnip (I can't remember if it was a whole parsnip. I think it was just half, cut lengthwise). I thought that for the price, the flavour would be spectacular. 7Mile Inn pub (less than $30 and it came with vegetables and mash) and Tassels Bar ($35-$45 and it came with a nice salad and chips) tasted better. I tried to justify the price, thinking that maybe they used an expensive shot of bourbon. Or it was a good portion of a prized cow--if it was, for that price, the flavour didn't do the cow justice. On their behalf, sorry, cow! Won't be ordering that again! If they were to charge $52 and not have anything else on the plate apart from half a roasted parsnip and sauce, they should have made the flavour worth $52. Make the customers taste why it's worth $52. Otherwise, throw in some mash/chips and other roasted veggies that maybe we can say, "I've tasted better, but with what's on the plate, we understand." Umm...actually, no. If the flavour is like that, the extra sides won't save it because other places have 300g portions, with the sides, tasted a lot better and was cheaper.
Although, I would highly recommend their chips (French fries cut). $10 for a share bowl with smoked ketchup. So...
Read moreMy husband and I have been fans of Old Laundry since moving into the area 18 months ago. We decided to get them to do the catering for our wedding reception, which was being held at Stomp Coffee across the road (See Stomp Coffee Google listing for that review of the venue itself). Okay - the food.... I had a mix of dietary requirements (vegan, veg, DF and GF) on the guest list, so we decided to do a separate package for them that covered off all of those requirements in one suite of dishes - and boy was their food DE-Lish!!!
Then there is the other 75% of the guests that got the 'normal' food. It was incredible!!! We got the 'substantial' package, and because I was worried about people still being hungry, I also bought about 10 pizzas (also made by Old Laundry on the night). The pizzas were a mistake - not because they weren't delicious, but because the substantial package really was enough food. SO don't make the mistake I did and risk wasting the food. Their food is unbelievably tasty and high quality, and there was well enough for everyone. I had grazing platters (BYO) before the catering started, which I would do again.
Everyone raved about the food provided by Old Laundry. The guests were also highly impressed by the staff bringing the food around - they were attentive and very friendly. Honestly, the combination of the Stomp Coffee staff and Old Laundry staff working so well together, and the quality of the food, made our whole evening a total delight.
Thanks so much Old Laundry - and we'll see...
Read moreI’m suspicious of all 5 stars but feel like anything less is inappropriate! The Old Laundry has a magician of a chef in the kitchen, and has all the setup and vibes that suit our aesthetic; it was the obvious place to host a function for my husbands 50th! The communications back and forth prior were simple yet comprehensive. Details locked in and minor adjustments noted and delivered in the night.
So many of our party guest contacted us to say thanks for a fantastic night, and every one also commented on the food, thanks to the talents of the chef. The cake was perfect, too. We feel super lucky to have put ourselves at the mercy the team, and I'm wondering when we have an excuse to hold another party there!
Special thanks to Kristyn for early arrangements, Kelsey for your awesome direction (of your fab team!) on the night and Callum for keeping as all looked after at the bar. Such good eggs, your ways just...
