Litani's Mediterranean Restaurant was recommended to us by friends. After looking at the appealing menu, we reserved a table for breakfast, not realising that this restaurant is clearly understaffed. We ordered banana bread and 2 hot breakfasts. The banana bread came out approximately 15 minutes after ordering. Despite the restaurant not even being a third full, we had to wait at least another 30 minutes for the remaining food. Waiting at last 45 minutes for a meal is not acceptable! There were only 2 waitstaff who were busy making coffee and taking orders. The food was being brought so slowly to the tables that we wondered if they had forgotten our order. No one bothered to tell us that the food was coming soon etc. We eventually had to go to the counter and ask the waitress when the rest of our food would be served as only one of us had received their breakfast. We were informed that because the banana bread was prepared at front of house instead of the kitchen, it was served separately from the other food, and we should have asked for everything to be served at the same time. This is absurd. The inference was that it was our fault for not asking all meals to be served at the same time. The rest of the food eventually arrived and was reasonable if a little cold. We didn't bother saying anything as it was clear that the staff didn't handle criticism well. Notwithstanding the fact that we didn't want to wait even longer for this to be rectified. We understand that the hospitality industry has been doing it tough over the last 12 months, which was even more surprising that the staff attitude was largely cold and negative. No one bothered to ask us how our meals were or apologise for the slow service. Similarly, when we paid we weren't asked about our experience, hence this review. We won't be...
Read moreService was very ordinary (bad).. This did not save the food at all. The food was very pedestrian, nothing stood out. I loved this place years ago. One of us has changed. I doubt I'll go back.
Updated after Latani responded Not my experience. I have a very different recollection of events. I sat at the table, I waited for a couple of minutes. 3 other tables were occupied. Two inside and one outside with a young lady on her phone. After a few minutes, I went inside and got my own menus. No one said hello or offered me recognition. I sat back at the table and looked at the menu. Someone then came out and I do not recall the exact wording but with their attitude may as well have said "what do you want?". I said I was waiting for someone else.
My dinning companion arrived, someone came over after a while, we were still chatting , when we were attended to to again, We had not decided, so they began to walk away and asked for water. The water arrived. We waited again for service and no one came. I then went up to the counter, waited , staff walked past with no offer of recognition, such as " I will be with you shortly". i was then attended to, with the same attitude of "do you know what you want yet?". i gave my order and returned to my table. I do not plan to go into a blow by blow account of "he said", "they said". As previously noted , I once enjoyed this place. Now that your staff are giving you a sanitised version of events leads me to believe that you have others issues you need to focus on. I offer my review for other customer's and perhaps those who wish to improve things. I do not do this get in to an internet argument. I will say no...
Read moreBusy outside but much quieter inside - just at the end of lunchtime.
Feels pretty authentic straight away. Nothing fancy, no trying to push a theme.... ....just groups of people eating and talking and the sight and smell of some amazing food.
Sat down and was given three menus - drinks, lunch (12-5) and the main menu.
Ordered some mixed dips and bread, a lamb souvlaki wrap and a haloumi wrap. Oh and a Mythos. There's a water station if there's nothing on the beer/wine/cocktail/soft drink/hot drink menu.
Beer came first. Big tick. I was hot and thirsty.
Dips next. Taramosalata, Toum and Melitzanosalata and a good amount of bread. All the dips were good. The Toum punched you with that fantastic fresh garlic taste but the stand-out was the Melitzanosalata which was next level.
Next up, the wraps. Both were excellent . Well priced to start with, without asking for extra for the things you'd expect to be there in the first place. $15.90 each. Both had the traditional filling. Really, really glad I didn't go for the Greek option (adds chips - and there's just no way I would have been able to finish it).
Both wraps were generous in primary filling and also the surrounds. By the time I got to the end of mine (haloumi) I was struggling.
Literally nothing not to like about the food we had here. Fresh, good portions, well balanced but above all, really tasty.
Even better, there's still time on this trip to go back and try one of the fantastic looking platters.
Definitely recommend if you're...
