If it wasn’t for the wonderful staff I’d be giving this place 0 stars.
3 sheets on the Lake was ALWAYS mine and my Husbands go to before we moved Regional for work. We came back on holiday to Perth this week with my family who are visiting from overseas and we were SO excited for this.
We ordered together but paid separately, still expecting everything to come out at the same time. Oh boy were we wrong! My sisters Entree AND main came at the same time, 5mins later my parents Entree’s come out. Shortly followed by my mums main. Then my main came out BEFORE my Entree. Apparently, when we complained, this is normal and Entree is just the work they use for “side dish” and whatever is ready first comes out… strange as an Entree most definitely isn’t a side dish and the fact that a Head chef allows this in their kitchen is crazy.
Onto how the food tasted; Popcorn chicken, Pork Belly bites and the Pork ribs. Couldn’t fault them. They were delicious, we’ll give them that!
Pizza; it was like eating a ball of DRY dough. Undercooked and tasted awful. Wasn’t fresh at all.
Nachos; All the chips were burnt, serious lack of cheese literally just a sprinkle if that’s what we can call it. Pile of pork in the middle that was so disgusting it wasn’t edible. Guacamole wasn’t fresh and seemed like a liquidy paste rather than proper guacamole. Husband had a few mouthfuls and pushed the rest to the side. He couldn’t bare it.
Kids cheeseburger; probably one of the most DISGUSTING THINGS to ever be served to a child. I wouldn’t feed it to my dog let alone my daughter. It was absolute slodge. It wasn’t meaty at all, it was too pink, was more of a paste texture, the bun was burnt.
Breaded mushrooms; Tasteless pile of grease.
Chicken burger; similar to the mushrooms. Just way too greasy.
When we went up and complained, Kieren I believe his name was, was absolutely wonderful. We felt terrible complaining because the staff themselves were incredible. They’re so polite, friendly and eager to find a solution and make matters right again. We were refunded for everything (except what we ate and were happy with as mentioned above) and offered a round of free drinks on him. We didn’t take Kieran up on that offer as we just wanted to get home but we’re happy enough with just being refunded.
I can only assume that 3sheets on the lake may have new chefs/under new management given the very poor experience with the food. The food was just absolutely awful. We also noticed the menu was incredibly smaller compared to the last time we had been and the food just wasn’t up to the high standard we expected of 3sheets.
Sadly, this experience has put us off ever returning. And we definitely ont be recommending. But I really do want to just express again how lovely all the staff were. They are a credit to 3sheets. Let’s just hope the food improves so that they don’t have to take the brunt of it. As it seems we’re not the only one who has had issues with the...
Read moreDepressing. To be fair, the only time I've been to the Hillarys version i enjoyed the experience. Today, on an early friday evening, in the alternate location: Not so much. Even with lattitude given for post covid chef recruitment issues, the food was joyless and potentially dangerous. I sent back the fish and chips as my first bite was strongly redolent of ammonia - some kind of contamination with beer line cleaner I guess, confirmed by my daughter who gave it the sniff test. They offered a replacement without question, though not without a statement they had found nothing wrong with the returned fish. Duly encouraged, I declined the 'freshy' and explained I was fine with the oily, bufallo wings I'd ordered that were coated in an unexpected crispy batter overlaying some exceptionally rubbery skin.
The pulled pork nachos had the texture of long ago defrosted, microwaved protein and were swimming in a rapidly cooling broth, presumably separated from the meat during the 'cooking' process and not strained from the bag before being dumped on top. The kids nuggets and chips, at $15 a pop, would not pass muster at mcdonalds. My 9 yr old would have done a better job at putting together the kids nachos. Kids meals did come with an ice cream covered with their choice of fluro flavoured sugar syrup. That was a hit. At least until the sugar kicked in and I was reminded of the warnings in the multiple posters around the venue (including one in the actual playground area) that kids are to keep noise to a minimum or run around the place - fair enough, time to beat a hasty retreat.
It's not all negative, it was good to see the wait staff multitasking - one chap managed to deliver a round of drinks whilst studiously watching the footy playing luridly on multiple tvs either side of the main restaurant. We also had the pleasure of paying in advance for the full experience, so I got to enjoy a kind of crescendo of realisation that the $220+ for 4 kids meals, 3 adult meals and a single round of drinks represented the worst value experience I've had in a long time.
I'm guessing that this place is severely underperforming at the moment, given the review rating it has, so hopefully they can pull it together. But I'm...
Read moreThis place is lovely and the food and drinks are great. I am reluctant to post something negative as I know the place is new and still finding its feet, but the service really was not great. Went recently at around 3:30 on a week day, ordered two drinks at the counter - note it was not very busy. About 20 minutes later as we hadn't received our drinks I went up to politely enquire about the status and one drink was dropped over.
15 or so minutes later the other drink (which was just a glass of wine) had still not arrived so I had to go back. I hate being difficult but it was clear it had been forgotten. The girl flicked through the spiked dockets and found our table (in other words, they forgot, which happens sometimes). There wasn't even an acknowlegement from her or "oh, sorry!" but I said thanks and went back to my seat.
Eventually we had our drink and chips (all very nice) and I went to order a small soft drink and was charged for a large/pint, which I just accepted. I understand one or two things happen but literally everything we ordered had an issue- and I am not someone who normally complains so we all just nodded along in bemusement. Aside from that, the system itself is a tad odd: sit at the tables then order at the bar- maybe they should have a separate bar-only area or revise what they do as it shouldn't take 20-30 minutes on a quite afternoon at 3:30 to pour a glass of wine. Again, will still recommend and I'll be back with colleagues but might be worth either putting on more staff or tidying up these issues as it's awkward to have to approach and ask/clarify 3 or 4 times for a very simple order. Nice venue regardless and I wish them well, it is a great addition...
