Wow!
Travelling to Young for the first time I decided to give in to my craving of the Oriental. Driving past this restaurant in the heart of town I decided to duck in and give it a go.
Whilst I am not a fan of seafood, I have a simple, but very picky palate, which primarily consists of most varieties of meat and western vegetables.
We placed our orders and enjoyed each others company in the pleasant family oriented atmosphere which also includes a fully stocked bar for those that may be a little thirsty.
As our food arrived, we were not only graced by visually stunning dishes, but aroma that magically awakens all the senses! At this point I thought to myself, please taste...don't let me down!
I took my first bite of the beef and black bean sauce...mesmerised!!! Could the other dishes be just as hypnotic? In a simple word...yes! From the fried rice (catering to my request of no egg and no prawns) and chow mein, to the sweet and sour pork...yum yum yum!
...and just when you think it couldn't get better as your senses are drowned in ecstasy, out comes the lemon chicken with the most amazing balance of zest and sweetness that one could ask for. This was then followed by a perfectly balanced salt and pepper chicken and Peking pork chop dish!
I almost considered checking my pulse to verify if I had died and gone to culinary heaven!
After my meal I decided to do something a little different and ordered some spring rolls. Boom!...wrapped in an audibly satisfying crunch, was a well filled, packed with flavour bundle of joy!
And whilst my eyes can be bigger than my stomach at times...I continued to order the deep fried ice cream which I can honestly is like no other I have ever tasted in my life. I could describe, however I would not want to spoil one of the most satisfying surprises that awaits you with every delicious mouthful.
Now the big question is....would I go again? YES YES and more YES! I would drive 4 hours each direction at every opportunity, because this restaurant is nothing less than a hidden gem in the heart of a wonderful part of Australia.
I highly commend and thank Chef Harris, who I must say is an extremely pleasant gentleman to talk to, for taking my family and I on a most fantastic culinary journey.
Highly recommended for family and friends gatherings, or for those who really enjoy great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeing a visitor to Young we wanted to support the locals and purchase dinner for us and the friends we are staying with. Walking to the register to order I was greeted by a lovely young lady who took my order and payment. I was told the wait would be approximately 30 mins, I chose to sit in the waiting area. About 20 mins later I was approached by an older lady who asked if I was okay, I said yes, she then asked for my name and said she would check on my order for me. She then came back and lectured me about not letting anyone know that I was there waiting - which I didnāt think I would have to do since I didnāt leave the shop and I was visible from the counter. Once I received my order I was basically chased across the road by another young lady who accused me of not paying for my order! I offered to show proof of payment and I told her exactly how much I had paid, to which she replied āno donāt worry about itā and walked back across the road where I heard her saying to another employee āshe reckons she paidā. Absolutely disgusting customer service and i definitely wonāt be spending my money there again...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy partner and I came here with our local friends on a busy Saturday evening. We ordered corn soup, wonton soup, garlic beef, satay chicken, salt & pepper chicken, Mongolian beef and Singapore noodle for 4. Corn soup was great. Wonton soup was average. Mongolia beef was a bit too salty. Singapore noodle was quite dissatisfying, as well as salt & pepper chicken. Their staff are friendly and attentive. However, it took us a while to have our mains served. There is a lot of room for improvement. I personally would not go there as the food isnāt...
