In brief. Do not go here for lunch or dinner. Hygiene is not good! Just walk a little further. Tourist trap. Unbelievable, what a bad story and above all incredibly disappointing experience Together with my family and parents-in-law, I went specially to Zauner for a nice meal. Everything went well and correctly, until the moment the salad was served.... sand... Can happen, just exchanged. Sand again... dissapointing, but ok... Third time (it would be in the dressing), so now without dressing, and again, still sand! Waiters were not convinced, it would have sand in it after all. So with table water I washed the lettuce myself. It looked like ditch water coming off of it.... Sand, and other filth. Really terribly rancid. I was genuinely shocked. Sincerely doubt the hygiene now of this kitchen! Sure these things can happen afterall, but how it was handled next was hugely disappointing. The salad for a few euros was finally taken off the bill, and just a one time sorry. Any further compensation was not made, even mentioning we were here specifically on my mother-in-law's birthday which they knew... Totally missed opportunity and they don't care much at all. Again advice, walk a little further and give your pennies to a real business owner who does have a heart for his customers and...
Read moreThe restaurant offered a truly delightful ambiance. It created an atmosphere that was not just inviting but also conducive to an enjoyable dining experience. As I entered, I couldn't help but notice the warm and cozy interior design.
But the real star of the show was the cafe. I had high expectations, and it didn't disappoint. The coffee, in particular, was exceptional, living up to the reputation that had preceded it. The aromatic brew was a sensory delight, and the taste was a testament to the expertise of the baristas. It was the kind of coffee that made you pause, take a deep breath, and savor every sip.
However, I must admit that the service was a bit lacking. It wasn't entirely unexpected, though, as this place was known for being perennially packed. The demand for the delicious food and coffee created a situation where the staff was always rushing to meet the needs of the customers. This often led to slightly longer wait times. While it's a testament to the restaurant's popularity, it's also a reminder to arrive early if you want a more relaxed dining experience. Overall, it was a good visit, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for great coffee and a...
Read moreWe walked into the restaurant at 6pm looking for a meal and floor manager ignored us. As we were about to walk out a very efficient waiter approached us and quickly got us to a table, set it out and got us menus. He gave us time to look through the choices, helped us get drinks and then came back and did the same with the food. His English was good and he was able explain dishes with a sense of humour. The clear beef soup appeared promptly one with dumpling and one with strudel. It was very tasty, glad we tried it. Adele wanted to try sausage so had one from the snack menu. I chose the boiled beef. Both were good. We then had the sweet for 2-3 , jokingly called the 3 mountains. It arrived on a trolley and quite a few people started talking about it . It was a sort of bread and egg pudding with raspberry sauce and fruit. It was great. We really enjoyed our visit, so glad our waiter looked after us and tipped appreciatively. It is a big restaurant with a big seating area beside the river as well as inside. It is brightly lit and always busy. There is a cake counter and a chocolate counter for purchasing to...
