Nice hotel in the city center of Ischl .. good location, comfy beds, nice people, nice spa.. at the breakfast buffet I missed signs to identify the stuff - I misinterpreted two times and had tastes I did not expect ( some clear liquid was sweet lemonade and not neutral water, cream cheese had surprisingly slices of garlic inside) .. the parking garage of the hotel is not adviceable to book - apart from mini parking spaces there is probability that you do not find a free space when you arrive ( very nasty if you arrive late after a nice trip) or you are hindered to leave by a car blocking the garage.. it is better to use the garages in the surrounding ( prices are some even lower than the hotel garage) or at weekends the public parking is free..

The hotel modern but traditional! Absolutely beautiful spa area. We came here 15 years ago and have been longing back since, we finally made it and it's even better than we remember. I cannot understand people leaving poor reviews. The breakfast is great, lots of fresh delicious things to choose from. We loved seeing the staff have some after the guests were finished, and you can see they are trying not to waste how everything is put out and made fresh in small batches. One of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. The restaurant: Chefs kiss amazing!! So delicious!!! Everything is so fresh homemade, beautiful meals!!! 🤤 ❤️

We stayed two nights in the lovely hotel which is located in the centre of town. It’s convenient to get around town. We were warmly received by the reception and rooms were accorded promptly. We had dinner in the restaurant which offered 10% off our food bill for hotel guests. We had asparagus soup, salmon and fried chicken. We enjoyed the delicious food and wines served. The server was very attentive and gave good recommendations. Breakfast buffet is a healthy and sumptuous spread. Love the casual greenhouse-like dining environment. Would love to come back again

I also just wrote a review on their dining room - the schnitzels was so delicious (cooked by the owner in their cosy and stylish dining room, way better than other schnitzels I've had) I ate the same meal twice. I was there for five nights and absolutely loved it.|| 1) the location. It's tucked down a laneway so feels like a secret. The centre of town is a 2 minute walk across a cute little bridge - and that means getting to and fro you get a glorious river view that you'd miss if staying elsewhere. So you are out of any business but literally a moment away. Train station also a 7 minute walk only||2) the staff. They are lovely. It is family owned and they couldn't be nicer, so welcoming and professional. ||3) little design touches like the fabric on the front of the reception and the aqua velvet chair in my room. ||4) the speak easy bar. It feels like a slice of NY. very cool.||5) I didn't get at all the health area as I was there for work, but wish I had (saunas, a freezing pool for feet before warming them for some circ. benefit, a glorious pool, a 'breathing'; room with rosemary. It looked awesome. ||6) colleagues attain different places all over town and I felt mine was the most authentically Austrian, with everything I need (and more), classy but a home way from home. Would go to Bad Ischl just to stay there again!||7) some little odd things like the room lay out (toilet opening to the front door) but this is an old building not purpose built so naturally has...

Meine Empfehlung: "Never change a running System" und/oder "Never change a winning Team".

This is not about the hotel, but the restaurant, I didn't stay at the hotel.

It's not often I feel prompted by a restaurant visit to publicly review it, however, I do feel that way in this case. Me and my SO have visited two places in Bad Ischl whose reputation reach far beyond the city. Goldener Ochse and Zauner's. Both of these places could easily afford to rest on their rich heritage and prime location and still be tremendously profitable, yet remarkably, Zauner seems to demand high standards from itself in terms of service and food regardless.

Goldener Ochse on the other hand, has seemingly taken the other route. Atmosphere, menu, service, everything is just about what you would expect from a run-of-the-mill Austrian highway restaurant. Quality of the food was okay-ish, where portion size and prices were worthy of haute cuisine. The risotto was far from being a risotto, it was rice dumped in sauce. Another dish contained hardened dried-up rice corns. All fine and well if you are somewhere next to nowhere on the country side, paying accordingly, not fine and not well when you are on a nice vacation and paying for these meals like they were made by...
