Hold on to your wallet and your guts!
Though you’re seated in the A la Carte restaurant, don’t expect to actually see a menu. The Tasting Menu is Carte Blanche style (loosely translates as ‘blank check’). No prices are revealed, except for the wine list of 100+ pages. Mystery food, mystery prices, mystery meat! So don’t be surprised to walk out with close to €1,000 for a family dinner of 4 ... that no kid would ever enjoy anyway!
Worse though, if you find yourself hugging the toilet bowl for the rest of the night (like I did :-( !), don’t expect much sympathy from the team, let alone any money back. It borders ruthlessness to be offered a free lunch as a gesture of good faith. No, thanks, one experience was quite enough!
The Griggeler Team deserves a slice of its own serving! UPDATE: Took some convincing, but got reimbursement for our meals....
